Ed has a solo career for sure.
Its also a very personal one, his first release was a soundtrack and the second one was a uke album with most songs being written 10 years before..i agree that he clearly loves working with the band, but his solo tours are pretty big too.

Guys... it's a solo career

This truth would seem as self-evident as a song on a Pearl Jam album being a Pearl Jam song

Ed's solo career was bigger than PJ for a while there. 'Into the Wild' may have just been a soundtrack but it got a lot of national attention and opened the door to a shitload of young people who had never listened to PJ, but listened to 'Eddie Vedder'. Then Ed put out another album or two. I can't remember bc I never bought them because they suck. But there are definitely a newer generation of PJ fans out there that knew Eddie's solo career first and then PJ. And that national acclaim still has a resonating effect on contemporary PJ. Ed is beholden to that solo celebrity status, and also to his 'old band' which he begrudgingly churns out lyrics to every 5+ years to keep the money-machine primed. But his heart has seemed with his solo music more than with PJ ever since he became captain america again

I realized today I can't see anybody wish anybody in the band like Matt Cameron a happy birthday without cringing because it makes me think of Eddie and how lame he is like wishing everybody a happy birthday

Eddie has ruined the birthday of everybody in pearl jam for me

The celebration of birthdays for people outside of your own personal network has always felt strange to me. Congrats on living another year stranger.

Remember that Saved By The Bell episode when Zack convinces Screech to throw a party at Screech's house while his mom is out of town? And his mom is an INSANE Elvis fan, and they break that statue? For some reason, the fact that she was this berserk Elvis fan was always kind of funny, quirky, and sorta sweet to me. But there are probably parents out there now that are the exact same way about PJ and/or Eddie, and that creeps me out.

Im still surprised with the groove of pretty much any Ten song. The bass sounds huge. Jeff and Krusen made a pretty great duo.

I've been listening to Pearl Jam for about twelve years now. Looking forward to the next twelve.
