I agree Pendulum is even better live.
I’m also finding a new appreciation for Let the Records Play *duck*. I think it’s got an excellent groove and I like that Ed’s vocal delivery gives it some retro pop feel almost. It just works with the slick production of that song. I could also imagine a grittier production of that riff and it turning into a completely different song and that probably would have been great too. But I enjoy this nonetheless. I am sure we’d all be loving on this if it were part of a Gossard solo album.

Thats one i cant get into. I like Stone´s performance but overall the song reeks of unfinished. They already did what they are trying to do there, and with better results and more organic ones.

I enjoy the song enough, and was fortunate to see the live debut. However, I recall having had higher expectations for the song, and the potential for LB in general, after this video was released.

"Hold On" is an enormous turd. Yet a lot of people seem to like it. I have no idea why.
yeah i'm not really a fan of that song. band made the right choice keeping it off an album.
That being said, I think that "Just A Girl" is awesome, and would have been classic with a real middle-8. Yet the band appears to think it's their worst song from that era. Maybe Eddie has a problem with the lyrics like "Brother"? I dunno, but it's good and doesn't deserve its status as a track buried on the Ten box in a rehearsal version.

funny you mentioned that, bc i almost mentioned "Just a Girl" being similar to "Hold On", in that i like the obscurity of the song more than the song itself. "Just a Girl" was always kind of awkward to me, and I think it is the lyrics – which feel kinda clunky. The song also has a slowed-down "Even Flow" vibe to me, so maybe the band thought they had a better version of that song already in the books

The pre-chorus is a lot like the verse to Even Flow, yes. That might be a problem.
But damnit, I love those verse and chorus riffs. Should have been re-worked IMO.

Hey, if you are going to go with extensive polish then go with it. I think Let the Records Play does that better than say Sirens, which had the makings of a great song but somehow came out just good and in large part due to the excessive polish and in another part because I don’t think the lyrics match the music.

I can totally imagine a Stone vocal giving "LTRP" just the shot of whimsy it needs.
In fact, now that you mention it, I can easily think of half a dozen Pearl Jam songs from the last 10 years that would be immediately improved by a Stone vocal. This is kind of a revelation.
