I'm gonna be honest. The more I listen to other bands the more I'm struck by how unimpressive the guitar players in PJ are, INCLUDING Mike.
Brian May is a damn genius. And live he sounds just as good as on the studio track.
Yeah, I've never looked to PJ for impressive guitarwork. They're sloppy as all hell live.
I don’t agree with the second statement but I do with the first.
I think Stone can be an interesting guitarist however, certainly moreso than Mike.
Whose second statement don't you agree with, MJD's or LV's?
I've come to realize as a result of this recent "Bohemian Rhapsody" mania that I kind of hate Queen.
Sorry, LVs - Pearl Jam's guitar work has always seemed to me more serviceable than remarkable in its own right (which isn't necessarily a criticism).
Stone's use of open tunings and Jeff's use of fretless and multi-string basses were actually pretty unique on the first few albums. Really, it's primarily Mike's playing that I find quite unimaginative and generic.

Don’t forget Stone writes a brilliant bridge. I’m less impressed by technical achievement than I am by good writing and interesting chord sequences. Stones great at that stuff.

I feel the same way.
Queen was an anazing band though, they had everything.

Queen is absolutely incredible. All four members wrote amazing hit songs, which is crazy in itself, Brian May is SO GOOD...seriously. HIs guitar work is so underrated, and live they sound AMAZING. And watching Freddie on stage is like O_O. The funny thing is he doesn't hit all the notes live really but yet his stage presence is so amazing you don't even care.
I love Pearl Jam but Queen really does make them seem a level below for sure.
Seriously watch that video on the last page of Radio Gaga at Live Aid and its like omg.

I will always love Pearl Jam but Im not sure there's one member of the band better than the respective member of Queen, and Queen also has the whole 'every single member has written MULTIPLE hit songs' thing going for it.
Eddie is one of my favorite rock vocalists so its a shame Freddie is A++ in both voice AND Stage presence. He might be the best frontman....ever. Brian May is undoubtedly better than Stone and Mike. In terms of bass and drums its closer. But Roger is really good live, INCLUDING throwing down powerful backing vocals. Both Jeff and John are solid. Maybe that's a tie? But then John wrote I Want to Break Free, Another One Bites the Dust, and You're My Best Friend.
