For me Pearl Jam are a nacho. I don't eat nachos all the time, but every now and then I just really want a nacho. And usually when I end up having the nacho I find I really really enjoy the nacho, and often have a few more nachos that same week.
Then I'm usually happy to move on and don't have another nacho for a month or two.

Cheese. Gets better with age even though a lot of people might think it tastes a little too strange then so they prefer the boring young cheese. If you age the cheese too long it goes downhill fast.

I was thinking about a few producers i would love to have the band to work with...my new list is:
Jack Endino Nigel Godrich Tchad Blake Daniel Lanois
Great call on Endino, he would be awesome for the band in their current state. Blake and Lanois would be amazing *if* they could help the band get back into more patient/spatial songwriting.
i can't see Godrich being a good fit though. I actually have not loved his production outside of Radiohead. With them, he helps glue their wide swath of sounds together, but i've otherwise found his production and mixing work to be quite cold. He excels at taking a rat's nest of sounds and making them fit together. But his stuff with standard rock drums/bass/guitars? Travis, RHCP, Beck, Gnarls Barkley...all those album sound really anemic to my ears (Sea Change notwithstanding).

I like what Godrich did with Waters. I would like something like that with the band.
And as for the peppers, the things that i like the most about the sonic part of that album have to do more with him than DM. The bland aspect of it i think its more of DM´s fault.

That was a fantastic record, and a good example of how an old artist can live in their own artistic history without becoming bored or uninspired. However, I would argue that all any producer can hope to bring to Pearl Jam right now is better sonic stewardship. They’re not going to be sitting around listening to Godrich talk about risking things they’ve never done before. In many ways they’ve become the most conservative band I’ve ever followed.
“It sounds like Pearl Jam,” he told the interviewer. The “sorry” was just assumed.

well, thats just an opinion. Im on the BS team and i think they took a big risk with that. So not doing it again...you cant be certain of that. You seem to want for them to make another No Code, not to risk anything.
And yes, i would like to sound way different on record than the last two. Enough with that sound.

Its a good album. The songwriting is good, and i like what they did with the production. Waters sounds good too. I havent come back to it but i remember being very pleased with the sound.
