Certainly not.

Nurnberg is the one.

What about Sad and Education from the Vic Theater vault show?

Education has a lyrical flub and Sad has nothing on the San Fran 06 version.

Imagine if Sad had been included on Binaural and was a regular on the 2000 tour. I would give my left testicle to hear 2000-era PJ play this song live.

Thanks for pointing that out. It's clearly a battle between Seattle and Lubbock though. Seattle has strings which is nice, but will have to take a close listen to decide if it is better than Lubbock.

The answer is Lubbock.

Pretty tight version, but down-tuned to buggery :( .

not sure what this means... :|

actually I don't know what down-tuned means, the buggery I could figure out ;)

I think it means they tune the guitars down a key to better accommodate for Ed’s voice.

I was at that Philly show and Parting Ways was pretty much the highlight. Still though, I think Lubbock is the way to go. Detroit 2000, the live debut, is pretty good too.

If that's true then why would it be a bad thing? I quite liked Ed's voice on that version.

Here's my 2 cents for the first half of the Binaural list

Breakerfall
- Alpine Valley 2000-10-08

Gods' Dice
- Stockholm 2000-06-28

Evacuation
- Portland 2000-11-02

Light Years
- Pinkpop 2000-06-12

Nothing As It Seems - tough call between
- Nurnburg 2000-06-11
- Indianapolis 2000-08-18 (leaning toward Indianapolis)

Thin Air
- Milan 2000-06-22

Insignificance
- Boston 2000-08-29

Of the Girl
- Boise 2000-11-03

Grievance
- Philly 2000-09-01 !!
I don't have Letterman 2000-04-12 so I can't compare

Rival
- New Orleans 2000-08-14 !!!

Sleight of Hand
- Katowice 2000-06-16
- Chicago 2000-10-09

the album tracks should be entirely from the 2000 tour

Pretty much. Relatedly, I made my own mix a while back of Binaural tracks just from the Jones Beach run and it was pretty good, so there's some good stuff there. Parting Ways was a bonus track, I think from Lubbock.

That said, I do like Of the Girl from Alpine. Thin Air from Jones Beach 3 is my favorite of the tour. I have listened to a ton of the 2000 tour lately and those are standouts. There's a version of Grievance from early in the Europe tour where Eddie's voice is really scratchy and in theory would be disqualified, but it kinda works. Maybe Manchester? That whole Manchester show is great.

Breakerfall from Alpine and Saratoga are both great.

I know that maybe they don't work for this compilation, but my two favorite versions of NAIS are Bridge School 99 and 2001. Also Detroit 2000 where they totally mess it up and then pull it back together, but that's really not made for this type of comp.

NO, that Detroit version of NAIS is far and away the best and totally deserves. That ending post fuck up is some of the best playing theyve done.

Doesn't belong on this collection.

Detroit is great but as said definitely does not belong on this compilation.

There are quite a few fan-made Binaural Live compilations made from 2000 versions only but this will not be one of them - the definitive version (IMO, with help from you guys) of each song will be chosen, regardless of which year it is from (though safe to say the majority are going to be from 2000).

Does anyone have any other suggestions for Light Years besides Pinkpop 2000?

It's a universally well-regarded version, with a nice unique ad lib outro, however I don't think I should pick it without at least comparing to some of the better versions from the US 2000 tour...

I always liked the version on the 2000 Tour Sampler promo disc... Columbus, OH - 8/21/00
