FAN-MADE PROJECT - NOT FOR SALE

*Share freely but do not distribute as mp3*

Compiled for the first time, this is a complete collection of Pearl Jam's TV appearances over the
course of their career. The criteria for inclusion was simple - it had to be a performance arranged
especially for television broadcast, as opposed to a telecast of a concert event (e.g. Groundwork
Benefit 2001). Full length shows like MTV Unplugged were also excluded. An extensive search was
conducted to find the absolute best quality sources for these tracks, which was especially challenging
for the first disc of tracks from the pre-digital television era. Thanks to the wonderful folks of
the Red Mosquito Forum, we believe we've achieved our aim, and with JWB's expert remastering skills,
got the best out of some often less than ideal sources. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed.

As always, if a new improved source for any of these tracks comes to light, this compilation will be
updated - so please contact ridleybradout@hotmail.com if you have something to contribute. A single disc
'Best of Late Night TV' version of this compilation will also be made available.

Hi RMers

I'm currently compiling the ultimate PJ TV Performances audio collection and so have been pulling together the best known sources for these.

Image

I'm currently looking for the best quality (lossless if possible) versions out there of some of the 1992-2002 tracks (i.e. the pre-digital broadcast days). Currently I only have the 'JasonA Archive' DVD compilation versions of these and some youtube rips, which are great for video, but some could be better in the audio department (no offense Jason! )

1992-09-09 MTV VMAs - Jeremy
1992-09-10 MTV Singles Premiere - SOLAT, Baba
1993-09-02 MTV VMAs - Animal, RITFW
1994-04-16 SNL - Not For You, Daughter, RVM
1996-09-20 Letterman - Hail Hail
1998-05-01 Letterman - Wishlist
2000-04-12 Letterman - Grievance
2002-11-14 Letterman - I Am Mine
2002-11-15 Letterman - Save You

1. Does anyone happen to have a VHS/DVD recording of any of these tracks with GOOD audio they could share?

2. Did any of these ever appear in GOOD quality on any old silver bootlegs? I found pretty good versions of the 'MTV Singles' tracks on the silver boot 'Against'.

3. I understand that some online streaming services in the US allow you to watch old archived episodes of classic shows. Does anyone know if any of these are available - MTV Video Music Awards, Saturday Night Live, The Late Show with David Letterman? If so, they may be the best possible source for the above tracks.

3a. If any of you American-based folks wants to help out and go one better, perhaps you could sign-up for a FREE trial of 'SeeSo' and see if PJ's 1994-04-16 appearance on SNL is included in the stream (S19E18):

Cheers and thanks in advance for any help/information you might be able to contribute to this project!

Pool your sources and check your silver boots, folks. We need to figure this out.

Yea, great idea here.

Also, I went to go see if my original Chapters CD had the SNL air set, or the rehearsal...and where the f*ck is my Chapters CD, guys?!

I could potentially do the See-So thing if a simpler solution doesn't present itself first.

Looks like seeso has the musical performances cut. The program audio was inconsistent anyways.

I think silver boots are our best bet here, being that the PJ community isn't particularly organized to say the least.

I have a CD copy of the "Against" boot. I have no idea if it is the "silver boot" version mentioned though.

Chapters has the rehearsal unfortunately, thanks anyway - hope you find it :)

Thanks, but I already have the tracks from 'Against'. It has the best versions of the 'Singles' tracks so far

The tracks most in need of an upgrade are 'I Am Mine' which was missing from JasonA's DVD (currently we only have a youtube rip), Animal/RITFW from MTV 93 VMAs, and the almighty MTV 92 VMA performance of Jeremy:

Keep it coming guys - we'll get there :nice:

You probably already know this but there are some more recent ones you do not have listed as well:

Just Breathe, Unthought Known: SNL
Worldwide Suicide, Severed Hand: SNL
Got Some: Tonight Show with Conan
Ole & Mother: Late Night w/ Fallon
Life Wasted: Letterman
Masters of War: Letterman
Betterman (Ed w/ CBS Band): Letterman
Mind Your Manners: Colbert

And their first SNL was in '92 with Alive and...Porch? (I think)

2002-11-14 Letterman - I Am Mine
2002-11-15 Letterman - Save You

I need to check my boxes, but I think I might have all of these performances on VHS from the original broadcasts. Not sure about the 2002 Letterman performances, but I know I have all of the others. All are HiFi-VHS with the exception of the Singles premiere party, but I've got TV > ANA recordings in stereo from that (Against may be better).

My SNL recording is from the original broadcast, so the audio is the live mix. (SNL often remixes the audio for the west coast and later airings, though I can't remember off-hand if they were doing it back then, too.) However, my local NBC affiliate at the time was actually cited as being one of the worst in the country, so I'll have to check the quality.

I've been meaning to convert a lot of these to audio anyway, so this would be a good kick in the pants to getting that done.

EDIT: Yes, I have the 2002 Letterman performances.

As always, Ridley (and helpers!), you rule.

Is the extended '06 Letterman set outside the scope of what you're looking at for this project?

A "silver boot" just means it's a direct rip of the original bootleg CD, and not a CDR/cassette that somebody transferred with a gasoline powered laptop after shoving it up their ass sideways.

Yeah, outside the scope. I may also remove the Conan RITFW which was also online only (and isn't that great quality) to ensure Disc Two actually fits under 80min.

We've already got 'Against' and 'No Fucking Messiah', but would be great to hear Jeremy from "Unplugged...and a little plugged" and the "Jeremy Live" versions of Animal/RITFW (unless they really are identical to the tracks on the 'Against' boot).

Where would you like them sent?

Also. I listened to the audio from the SNL VHS rip and to me it sounds identical to the No Fucking Messiah boot so it's probably not worth sending.
