Also whoever is doing the background vocals on the "runnin from" part is slacking majorly. That part loses a lot without hearing both parts. Still cool hearing this song live. Its a good one.

So sick of live Porch, but that guitar intro I always love. Sometimes wish they'd play the whole song like this and see what happens.

Pretty decent first set. Nothing spectacular. Some songs sounded really bad. Infallible is one of my favorite LB songs but is just not a good live one when Eddie can't sing it.

Cool hearing Marker in the Sand, Light Years, and Immortality, while also putting in a lot of the basic hits. No Corduroy though. that's surprising, they almost always play it in the first set. First six songs were a good choice.

Biggest problem is Eddie just doesn't sound good on boots anymore. But it seems like it was a nice set for those there live.

There's still a ton of songs Eddie sounds great on, I think they need to focus on those more.

I could agree with that. Unfortunately that would mean cutting some classic songs.

Good.

Very very nice Encore 1 lineup. Brings this show up a bit. Porch still going. This one is fun live. Not so much on boots

Again, they have only played it less than 50 times out of 1,000 shows so

Lately it seems to get played a lot though. I know it used to be rare, but it seems to pop up all the time now. Maybe I just have that perception because ive gotten both at 2/4 of my shows

Anybody get bummed out when Alive plays at a PJ show? I don't mean because I don't like Alive, I do, it just means the show is basically over :(

You got 2 more songs for this show, bub

Post subject:  Re: Sirius XMPearl Jam Radio Topic

Yeah but its always Rockin in the Free World, Baba O Riley, Indifference, Sonic Reducer, or Yellow Ledbetter <_<

Post subject:  Re: Sirius XMPearl Jam Radio Topic

And there's Rockin.

I still wonder if Eddie wishes this and Baba O riley were his songs. Its just funny seeing that giant crowd pleaser anthem to (almost) close the show always be a song by somebody else

Post subject:  Re: Sirius XMPearl Jam Radio Topic

They should open with Yellow Ledbetter one day instead of always playing it last. It could work as an opener

And it's done. Solid show. Highlight was the awesome Encore 1

Good.

The issue isn't even songs having to be cut but the obsession with the notion that the songs can't change with time either to accommodate a singer or just to spice things up. Voices change. Some singers are more affected, some are less but it's inevitable.
The really amusing part of this kind of arguments is that the evaluations of an ageing rock singers are usually limited to stylistic inflections like screaming. Even when they manage to meet their fans' expectations they tend to not be "as good as 20 years ago" they merely try to make impersonations of their 20 something selves which is kind of sad.
