I don’t understand what this book is? Does it just document the DTE video?
This was my take also, I don't get the 'buzz'.

Drawing inspiration from the Grammy Award nominated music video of the same name, Do the Evolution takes fans inside this unforgettable work of art. Directed by visionary comics legend Todd McFarlane (Spawn) and veteran animator Kevin Altieri (Batman: The Animated Series), this achievement in animation told a graphic and dark history of the world in four gripping minutes and is widely considered one of the best music videos of all time.
Now, the full story of the making of this historic video will be told in the Do the Evolution art book from IDW. Lushly illustrated by the video's striking animation cells with never before seen storyboards and designs from the video, the video's co-producer, Joe Pearson, will guide readers through the fascinating process of bringing the band’s vision to life in this one-of-a-kind art book.

So a book about a pretty cool animated 3 minute music video made 20 years ago. Seems a little underwhelming.

The weirdest part about it is that any one of us could probably write half the script for it ourselves.
-
Todd: The band were super supportive of our vision. I remember Ed and Jeff in particular coming up with some events or...maybe just images....from different points in history. Some of that got used, some of it didn’t.
Kevin: I only met the band twice, at the beginning and at the very end. But we sent them some early storyboards, and you could tell they ‘got’ it. It was like working for a really cool boss who trusts you completely.
With the initial planning work done, it was time to begin fleshing out the individual vignettes. Crucial to the process, in the director’s eye, was the timing.
Todd: The song has a crazy pace for what we were after. Each individual line evokes a new and distinct image. Or images! But the performance also feels like it goes more and more off the rails as it continues, and Pearl Jam is all about the performance, so we wanted to mimic that in the way we reflected humanity’s story.
Kevin: It got weird (laughs). We had some weird ambitions. Some of them you’ve never seen.
Mike McCready: I like it.
Todd: We kind of zeroed I’m on that hallelujah moment as the philosophical core of the track. Like, ok, here’s how humanity turns its best wishes into its worst demons. It elevates the iconography, but not the heart that birthed it.
Kevin: Jeff Ament is a talented artist. He makes a bunch of their posters and things. When you have that level of graphical expertise in the band, it pressures you to elevate your game!
Jeff Ament: I mean, it’s great. Fuck you if you don’t like it.

I don't know plat's opinion on this book, but he is NOT allowed to complain that the book would be boring after digging through this thread and collecting those quotes.

how just don't understand how they aren't able to finish chapters for something so absurdly easy to write about, seems like it would just take some simple emails back and forth and BLAM, chapters done.
