Still creepy AF to my ears, but I do appreciate being able to sit through the whole thing for the first time in ages.

1994 me probably still thinks that including Pry To, Bugs, and Stupid Mop on Vitalogy was a kick ass move by PJ.
2024 me definitely feels it was a damn crime.
I sometimes fantasize about a 1995 Vitalogy with I Got ID, Long Road, and HTI instead of those tracks.

Im listening to Fugazi now, and i always consider this one to be the fugazi period of Pearl Jam.

Do you guys agree?

While Vitalogy is great as it is, I now want to do this.

I think there’s more Fugazi influence — musical and thematic — on Binaural and Riot Act.

really? i can hear the sound on Vitalogy being closer to fugazi than Binaural. RA sounds way more poppy than anything Fugazi did.

Gods Dice, Evacuation, Insignificance, and Grievance all have a lot of Fugazi in their guitar interplay.

Outside of Green Disease, there’s not as much musical influence on RA, but Ed was clearly in the Dischord headspace during that era, and it’s reflected more in the lyrics.

yeah, i can see it on those songs but Vitalogy´s harsh sound, tightness and ferocity reminds me a lot of early Fugazi.

Nah. Long Road and I Got Shit sound too different with Jack’s drumming. HTI on the other hand…

hard to imagine would have been a great hidden album track following about 30 or seconds after the end of Immortality

How would you guys define the musical style of Vitalogy?

And why didn't PJ ever come back to this sub-genre?

It's a dark, alternative rock record.

Vitalogy might be the closest to what "grunge" is supposed to be: it has punk, metal, classic rock, blues and country influences

I feel like screaming trees most accurately captured the platonic ideal of “grunge.”

Sweet Oblivion in particular, which is a perfect record.

Bold statement.

Either way, Stupid Mop is almost 8 minutes long, that's prime real estate on a vinyl that's superb, and let's face it, no one is playing those 8 minutes.
