PEARL JAM ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM, TOUR

Jan 29th, '13 by Ian J. Booker @ 8:39 AM

Hot on the heels of a highly suggestive pair of tweets last night from music gossip mill Antiquiet and veteran music journalist/band BFF Jonathan Cohen, aging grunge pioneers Pearl Jam have announced the "long-awaited" (Cohen's words, not ours) follow-up to their 2009 grunge-lite mini opus Backspacer. The new record, which is to feature guest vocals from Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, will be released on May 21, 2013 via Monkeywrench records and will be titled Ingrown Ocean, with a US tour to follow in the fall. The tracklist for Ingrown Ocean has been confirmed as follows:

1. No Good Reason
2. Ingrown Ocean
3. White House Steps
4. At High Tides
5. Ethical Arson
6. Islands
7. Under Surveillance
8. Written in the Stars
9. Bloodstained Congress
10. Leave it Behind
11. Shores of Adelaide
12. Dear Jill

For the fall US tour, the band says they will primarily be focusing on the Boston area, as they agree they often perform their best shows in that locale:

September 3 - West Palm Beach, FL - Cruzan Amphitheater
September 5 - Columbia, SC - Colonial Life Arena
September 7 - Boston, MA - TD Garden
September 8 - Boston, MA - TD Garden
September 10 - Boston, MA - Orpheum Theater (fan club only)
September 11 - Boston, MA - Orpheum Theater (fan club only)
September 13 - Boston, MA - Venue of local fan Peter Clarke's choosing; TBA.
September 15 - Mansfield, MA - Comcast Center
September 17 - Mansfield, MA - Comcast Center
September 20 - Chicago, IL - United Center
September 21 - Chicago, IL - United Center
September 23 - St. Louis, MO - Scottrade Center
September 25 - Gorge, WA - Gorge Amphitheater
September 26 - Gorge, WA - Gorge Amphitheater

September 30 - Boston, MA - TD Garden
October 1 - Boston MA - TD Garden
October 3 - Boston, MA - Wang Theater

Would have been more believable if the shows were only in NYC, Boston, Philly, and Larry Ellison's Hawaiian island Lanai.

It's all strange cause with timing and other commitments it seems unlikely it's new music. I also don't see why any group outside of 10c would give a shit to announce any new bootlegs or pj20 box set or anything. I also doubt a website like antiquity would know of any tour dates prior to any of the fans discovering and/or venue bookings leaking out. So I suppose the next logical thing is that yes, boom is leaving the band or taking up main vocal residency while Vedder explores a duet career with his smokeshow of a wife.

Still- I feel like Kat would be the one to announce it since the general music public doesn't give a shit.

Hopefully it's a lead single. And hopefully it's interesting and great

i may be alone in this, but i actually dont want a lead single if the new album wont be coming along really soon after, a single 6 + months before the album would be a little annoying, and ill wear that song out to where ill hate it by the time the album is released. i really wanna hear some new music, but hope we also get full album info with it.

As long as a lead single is released with an over produced video with paid actors as fans, I'm cool with it coming out whenever!

This was my favorite part.

What's probably the worst part is that that's where I realized it was fake. All of those song titles could happen (although maybe not all together).

When the Backspacer song titles were leaked by that magazine, I was convinced they were fake. Convinced.

Guys, maybe the news is that Cameron is leaving PJ for Soundgarden full time and Jack Irons is leaving the Wallflowers for PJ!

Unlikely, but wow, this would be great news. I love MC n'all, but after seeing SG live, it's clear he belongs in that band.

Also, after hearing PJ20 disc 2 "Not For You", it's clear Jack belongs in PJ.

I'd be happy if Jack just recorded with PJ. If he wanted to opt out of touring, so be it.

The PJ FB account just posted thumbing my way, live from chop suey. Whatever that's worth.

What if its the No Code/Yield reissue announcement? That'd tie me over til the next record, somewhat.

It's probably just US tour dates. They did say they were to follow.

Yeah, I don't see this as being something so awesome that Antiquiet would build suspense for it.
