Ok. Im listening to a live boot from 1993.

WHAT THE HECK

IS WITH

EDDIE

GROWLING "KNEEEEELIN" AS THE FIRST WORD!!!!!!

Somebody please answer this.

First of all the word is "freezin" not "kneelin". This is almost 25 years ago and he STILL IS SAYING KNEELING.

Second of all. Why does he growl those words when the soaring vocals on the album are one of the best parts of the song?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!!?

Also the original groovy version of this song (before being triple speed live) is the coolest song they ever wrote.

Yeah, I love that old Vedder growl in Even Flow. He can't pull it off anymore.

Which do you like better?

The original Even Flow starts with "Freeeezin, rests his head on a pillow made of concrete"

Ever since, Eddie either forgot the words or just changed it to "Kneeeeelin', rests his head on a pillow made of concrete"

This bothers me so much. I assume Eddie just realized Kneelin and Feelin rhyme better than Freezin and Feelin, but to me the second rhyme is cooler...and the lyric makes much more sense.

How can you rest your head if you're kneeling? Freezing is a much more powerful lyric and it is just better in every way. It even SOUNDS better.

Eddie even sang Kneelin at Unplugged in like 1992! So this has been a problem forever. This, combined with the fact that the original studio version is the only time I've heard him not do a horrible-sounding growl on this word has ruined the beginning of Even Flow for me forever :(

On a similar note, why does he never sing "I couldn't breathe, holding me down" live in RVM?
