Nothing would make me happier than less touring.

I don't know, perhaps my expectations are different but I thought it was fun, especially once Jeff turned up.

It's not like it was a complete waste of time, they confirmed:

- tour dates will definitely be announced in early 2016
- there's something also being planned around the band's 25th anniversary
- Jeff's currently digging through his boxed stuff from the mid 90s for the No Code/Yield reissue but it's nowhere near ready yet
- the band selects the Vault releases and have a shortlist they're working from right now for future releases
- they haven't been recording any new material in the studio lately
- no plans at all for releasing the studio version of Of The Earth

I thought Jeff denied the existence of a studio Of The Earth.

I'm sure it exists. Jeff talked about it in an interview during the recording of the self-titled album and from memory the band revisited it during the Backspacer sessions but nobody was satisfied with how it turned out so it got shelved (I think that came out of one of the PJ Radio call-in shows).

I'm sure it exists too. I was under the impression it was on the original track listing of Lightning Bolt. BoB wanted it replaced with SbM.

The thing about all this touring is, it takes effort and time and does create a feeling of having bonded with fans or whatever...and it doesn't have the risk of failing the way a new album does. It's the easier and certainly more lucrative route, for a band that doesn't want to have to do "too much." So I don't think they are likely to ever increase their recording habits unless circumstances limit their touring.

Which is too bad, because ultimately nothing is created.

C'mon McP, that's not fair: they're creating posters, stickers, t-shirts, bootlegs...

I feel like at some point this phone call happened:

"Guys, why did you make me do this? I'm not authorized to answer any of this fanboy bullshit. Would you please get a band member onto his computer to throw some answers at these assholes?"

Right, so Jeff stepped in to painstakingly type "No" to every other fucking question.

We often refer to our kids as assholes, so I have no doubt that the band and management all constantly refer to us as assholes.

I thought his answers were significantly better than anything Curtis could offer.

About No Code: "I'm going through a box of that stuff right now. 3-5 years"

For a question that has no final answer, that was a decent response. He gave vague, but interesting, answers like that to several questions.

Why schedule this when you have nothing to report?
