The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Both are very high on my list and iconic songs for the era. This round is the first round that has me needing to give the songs some listens before choosing.

Present Tense has always felt either unfinished or underdeveloped, especially the back half of the song. Long Road has always fell too long and slightly indulgent.
I'll give the edge to Long Road for its guitar work.

Two wonderful songs that own their respective sonic and emotional spaces in every way. But my vote goes to "Long Road" -- while I love both songs for what they are, putting them under the microscope forces me to consider some of the triteness in "PT" that has been exposed over the years, where "Long Road" strikes a chord (specifically, an open "D," over and over and over again) that resonates deeper and stronger as time goes on, and I encounter more and more emotions that can only be musically rivaled by the kind of hypnotic, sentimental drone "Long Road" intones, lovely a lyric though "I have wished for so long/How I wish for you today" truly is.

Long Road is so musically simple and so beautiful, It doesnt feel too long for me, it could go on forever. It definetely gets my vote I love Present Tense too.

let me just say that the people who are voting for long road shouldn't beat themselves up about it. everyone makes mistakes, and that's okay. present tense taught me that.
