Johnny Guitar has some filthy playing to match the content, which is clever and unexpected in ways I never expected Pearl Jam to be. Great vocal melody from Eddie. I wish it was a bit longer, but it's a great song.
Unemployable means well, but it ends up a bit too shrill and unintentionally condescending, with an unforgivable pop sheen to Eddie's vocals that make them enjoyable to listen to. Music was pretty good, but still not as good as JG.
First really fucking tough match up this round. My gut says to go with Unemployable, so I'll do that. But I may end up changing my vote. Both of these songs are fantastic. Though, I did vote for Unemployable in its previous match and against JG in its previous match... so... yeah, Unemployable. For now.

A fitting matchup -- two Matt Cameron songs via Eddie Vedder creative writing exercises that assume atypical, somewhat bizarre narrative voices. Both have that slight asymmetry, characteristic of Matt's songs, that really does it for me. But something about "Unemployable" feels kind of "faux-pious," though, as if the singer believes all working class people are simply an amalgam of the same "plainfolk" cliches. The song means well but Ed doesn't get to the heart of that character; he instead creates an archetype which ultimately feels more like condescension than empathy.
"Johnny Guitar" gets my vote, though I think "further north a warmth alive and lingering" is a gross lyric.

I always say that Parachutes is my favorite post riot act song (and i might actually like it more than anything from it, as much as I like that album), but Unemployable is making me doubt about that.
