I don't like In Hiding. Light Years is decent. A nice sentiment, some great lyrics (though there are some fairly wooden lines mixed in), and that really cool solo. I get why the song has the clumsy, uncomfortable in its own skin feel that it does, and the feeling its trying to capture, but I do think it hurts the actual aural experience of the song.

In Hiding had to beat pilate and breakerfall (I voted for both over In Hiding) Light Years had to beat U and LBC (I voted for Light Years twice)
so neither song has come up against very steep competition. Brian of J and No Way just had to make it past Rival and Sleight of Hand to get where they are.

I voted for Breakerfall, U, and LBC. I also voted for Sleight of Hand.
Light Years is good, can be great depending on my mood and circumstances. In Hiding is still one of my favorite songs on Yield, I always get excited when it comes on. Not really a difficult decision.

These are both cool songs with unique musical identities (I really love the chord progressions in both songs) which have both faded a bit for me over the years. Today I feel compelled to vote for "Light Years" because its lyrics still evoke a sense of mystery for me, where "In Hiding"'s Dr. Phil-ish tendencies hold it back a bit in that sense.

Dr. Phil is a bad comparison -- despite his Hallmarky tendencies, he is probably too credible for the analogy. Maybe Sylvia Browne? Deepak Chopra? That fortune teller from "Mallrats" with three nipples?
