just saw the new album news. I didnt like this single, but thats very exciting
Album news?
Probably thinking about the news that this is the first song released from the forthcoming album.
Stip is the new B.
I'm about a week behind on everything
What is it, midterms or something?
that doesnt really impact me much anymore - not more work on my end. but there is a perfect storm of deadlines, a backlog of vacant positions I am awaiting authorization to fill, shit like that. I just worked two 70 hour weeks and its not going to clear up until May.
so dont vote for the wrong songs in MM. Im hanging on by a thread. The 1-2 punch of not digging the new single and the utterly rote RM reaction isnt helping.

but Weird Al is on Tuesday!
If PJ released a song that didn’t sound like the same “dads in garage write shitty punk” crap we’ve been hearing since the year of our Lorde 2009, we would probably react differently.

Songs like Johnny Guitar, Just Breathe, Amongst the Waves, The End, Unthought Known, Force of Nature, Sirens, Infallible, Pendulum, Swallowed Whole, Let the Records Play and Future Days?
What is your stance on all the "dads in garage write shitty punk" that they released prior to 2009?

1.) Sucks, annoying but ok, sucks, sucks, cool, cool, definitely daddish, sucks, cool, my fav on your list, double sucks, just ok.
2.) Like...?
Bonus: Fixer, MYM, Can’t Deny Me all feel like the same song to me, so that’s where that sentiment comes from. Musically ok and lyrically shit, just designed to prove they can still rawk instead of recalibrating towards a sound they can do well. It’s a frustratingly safe choose for a group that could put out 5 years worth of art instead of another Clash knock off and still sell out stadiums across the planet.

1) But that's not the point. The point is that they aren't "dads in garage write shitty punk" songs. And you said that was all PJ released anymore.
2) Basically every "punk" song PJ has ever recorded. When have they ever been punk? When have they pulled off punk in a way that didn't sound like dads in a garage?

I'm sorry their more recent output doesn't do it for you. I'd be frustrated too if I felt the same way. But Fixer, MYM and Can't Deny My don't sound or feel like the same song to me. So, I just don't fully understand the frustration. But if that's really what you guys are feeling, that sucks. I'm sorry about that.

Not sure if it counts, but he was the drummer on the original Hovercraft 7"
True, but I meant Pearl Jam songs. I think this is a first, so to the folks, like me, calling for a different approach to their music this technically qualifies.
