The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Lighting Bolt has not aged well at all. It sounds like a band who had no idea what to do or where to go so they relied on past strengths. It also sounds like it was slapped together piece by piece rather than a band excited about playing in the same room together.
While some of the songs may be better than those on backspacer, backspacer was at least a dip into new territory or approach for them.
Lightning Bolt depresses me when I think about it big picture.

If album 11 ever comes out, I 100% guarantee that most fans will say this exact same thing about the new album and replace "Backspacer" with "Lightning Bolt."

Listened to My Father's Son today for first time in forever and even though I always liked it I seriously underrated that song. It's hands down the best on the record and it gives me hope they could still construct something great. It's got such great forward momentum and that bridge solidifies its place in top 10 PRAMG.

It's been said before but this band really really needs another powerstruggle. In the mid 90s there was one between Ed & Stone. Now it's time that Jeff takes over as the main creative force. He's the only one who prevented LB from being a complete failure with writing tracks as 'Yellow Moon, Pendulum, Infallible and MFS'. His last two solo record were interesting, RNDM is really good. So yeah, move over Ed. Give the wheel to Jeff now.
Feels like Stone has taken some control in the last year. There have been at least three messages of some sort from the band in the past year, and all signed by Stone. Now the show for Cornell. Probably doesn't mean much for creative control, but I can't remember it being like that before.

All of PJ's social media today is celebrating the fact that Lo10L was released today in 2011. Meh.
I think this is the only official release I have not purchased.
