The high pitch notes. The na na na is very similar.

Retrograde sounded awesome live. That outro sounded epic.

Alright not so much. It Might be a better opener.

Yeah, I was surprised how much I enjoyed that just via decent-quality video. I bet if you're in the room it's probably pretty great.

Seven O'Clock might already be my favorite Pearl Jam song from the past twenty years. Even with mediocre sound quality, this makes me think that once I hear it live my suspicions will be confirmed.

Edit 1: Well, fuck me, I don't know how to post video. I've always avoided trying for this very reason.

Edit 2: lol

Edit 3: Nailed it.

I really like how the vocal rides the drum beat more prominently when played live. Gives the song some forward momentum to the instrumental breakdowns and climax.

Absolute highlight of the show. Every thing and every one sounded so great. Definitely a classic pj cathartic moment.

Ed is hitting vocal notes that I didn't know he could anymore; I was thinking he'll never reach "be the sound", but then he did? weird

for all that I don't love "Long Way", he was also impressive on that

I went to Ohana with a couple of friends. One who had never seen Ed/Pj before.

Ed came out on Friday night and the first few notes he sang completely floored my buddy. The look on his face was pure astonishment. he couldnt believe how rich and beautiful and soaring eds voice was.

He said the same thing Saturday. Then saw PJ Sunday.....he said he's never seen much like it.

It was good to go with someone not like us. A good reminder.

On that note: Ed absolutely sounded fantastic and there is still not much better than hearing Ed's lovely voice blare across an audience. Beautiful.

Strat, out.

Completely agree. It's a sensation that astounds me every time I see them live.

I had a similar experience with a friend who had never been to one of their shows. He said the opening vocal of Release felt like someone reached inside of him and gave his soul a hug.

I went to Sea.Hear.Now with a group that was half Pearl Jam fans and half locals who all didn’t really want to see Pearl Jam. All sides were blown away at how good they sounded, so they satiated the die yard’s need for a good show and the doubters converted. That’s how it’s done.

the recent performances have got me thinking that a lot of the shit in the last few years was absolutely choices they made, rather than diminished talent

The PJ20 victory tour went on way too long.

The PJ20 victory tour went on way too long.

In their defense, they are just giving the fans what they want. Hits, deep cuts, rarities, a show that feels like their own in sets. I mean we pore over nightly set lists and tell tales of Eddie’s half focused banter, and then get annoyed when they keep pushing in that direction because they screw up a few chords!? You can say you want them to have a set 20 songs to play every night with one or two deviations because that would make them a tighter outfit, but really, when it’s your show, you know you want them to play stuff from out of left field…

I mean, there’s a contingent demanding both that the band is stagnant and too uninspired to try something whilst also criticizing their live show because they throw too much shit at the fan to see how it splats.

1. which fans? not me

2. who's "we"? I don't do any of those things

PJ have earned the right to do what they want, but let's stop pretending their fanbase is or was ever a monolith; it always consisted of several demographics, and different aspects of PJ's sound appealed to each in different ways; the PJ20 victory lap was a phase where they actively decided to pursue catering to one of those demographics (mainly pissed up jocks), and they've only just started to slightly branch out from that again with Gigaton
