The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.

I was reading through the comments from a PJ Facebook post of Cropduster from Live at the Garden, and a lot of people were praising the song and saying it's underrated. We might not be THAT far off from the general fanbase.

So there you have it, this is as close to the explicit mission statement that I've always wondered aloud about (and have been roundly bashed for) that is widely accepted by consensus of this board: That RM is simply a place for people who's fandom of the band has run it's course, and not a whole lot else.
Basically, it's a board for former fans. All of the debate that there is something subjective and that current fans are part of this fabric and that the commenters here can't be pidgeonholed and that there are a multitude of viewpoints and that this place is not homogenous, etc, etc has borne itself out. It is the bubble that I have contended it to be.
I appreciate the honesty. We are under no illusions, so thank you for that. Sincerely.

Yes, everyone else loves Pearl Jam. Their last album is the cornerstone of modern music. Eddie Vedder is God, and should be praised at all times.
RM is a modern version of hell. So what are you doing here?

Actually, I was part of the pre-historic version of this very board, going back to the early 2000s when it was under a totally different name and different server and everything (for the life of me I'm now forgetting this name), well before it became RM. I'm actually one of the beta members (was under different names and had to switch bc of username/password issues). I was one of the nucleus of people that was grandfathered into this board.
I've seen this board devolve from very intelligent and thoughtful analytic discussion to .... whatever it is now. So, I feel like I've earned the right to challenge people here. I've got the history, put in the time.
The whole "if ya don't like it here ...." thing won't jive with me Cause I've kinda been around here for a long ass time.

So, maybe I should ask: what are YOU doing here?
Pearl Jam is my favorite band. Stuck around because of all the great people here.

Gentlemen, the new album is closer than ever. Now is not the time to turn on each other.
