Studio Immortality - This is fantastic and one of his few acoustic album solos. All or None - not a song I listen to a lot but I love the solo. Ghost - Turns the song from sub-par to mediocre. Low Light - Really enhances the song with great note choices. Daughter - Focused and melodic. Did something similar with I am mine. Animal - the solo over the chorus at the end is something I've only recently paid attention to. Amongst the Waves

"Go". Frenzied and intense.
Exactly...is so fucking intense even if´ve heard that song many times, it still takes me. The same can be apply to Alive.
I was listening specially to Mike in some songs that dont scream McCready and im was really impressed with his work in Force of nature, Speed of sound, Got some, Get right ( what he does here is amazing), fucking Ghost ( take this one to another level for sure)...Unemployable and Big Wave....
Nothing on record tops Immortality, although the Alive solo gets its props. I can't think of a studio solo since back in the early days that's really slayed me. He has a few good songs and the occasional cool riff, but aside from live work, its been a long time since he's put anything down in the studio that's been really exceptional. They just don't seem like they're that kind of band anymore.
Yeah that Immortality solo is amazing. A great tone with a very hollow and empty sound that fits the song perfectly.
Now that I've learned the Alive solo, it's a little less cool, but still his best; esp after hearing the demos and how it progressed and improved.

Temple and the first two records are full of great solos. Last Exit, Immortality and Red Mosquito are top notch but after that its been kinda down hill with the occasional exception like I Am Mine. I've found Mikes solos and tone to be a great disappointment over the last decade plus. Probably my biggest issue with the band.

The Life Wasted solo starts good but he runs out of steam in the middle, he's out of ideas and vamping. Comatose is certainly very fast. Severed Hand is pretty cool even though its way too low in the mix and I hate at the end when he stops the solo and starts playing the riff then goes into the outro solo. I admit that's a dumb nitpick. My favorite part of that solo is the first note at the beginning that plays over his solo that slowly descends. I can't think of the other solos off the top of my head. I'm not saying he sucks just he went from great to good.
What is everyone's fascination with the solo on Last Exit? It sounds good, fits the song well and is a top 5 song for me, but his work on there, in my guitar-playing-opinion, is nothing worth writing home about.

You could say the same thing about the solo in Cinnamon Girl. Guitar wise simple but its one of the best ever. I don't mind simple just don't bore me.
