I still remember my very first listen of Ten. It's the only pearl jam album I can say that about until S/T. I kinda wish I could go back and tell myself in advance what it would all come to mean.
REally? I have a distinct memory of my first listen for all of the albums. I try to plan it that way when they each come out (the latest album was a drive down Lake Shore Drive in Chicago). And as much as it hurts and is difficult, try to avoid the leaks (except for what PJ releases) so that I can have that memory.

Well the dude gets executed so...
Does he get executed in Footsteps? I thought he was just in prison.

I thought he was on death row, but now you mention it the song doesnt really imply that at all. Either I made it up or I read somewhere that the footsteps in the hall are the people coming to take him to be executed.

I listened to once earlier and my god its a hilarious song. I forget sometimes how ridiculous it is. Even eddies voice sounds extra growly and reverby. Lets the 'trilogy' down kinda. Still fun though. My fathers son goes with it well. As in ive basically decided its the same character.

Nothing says "I am my father's son" quite like humping your mom.

It wouldn't matter if the rest of the song was of Rodney dangerfield talking about pop tarts while dropping a deuce on a tin can, listening to Stone and Jeff on Even Flow is totes magotes.

You know, guys and gals, I sit up at night and wonder about the next time I'll get the chance to read more analysis of songs from two decades ago from our boy, stip. Threads like these really hit the spot. I sometimes wonder how each sequential review of the same song, over and over, and over and over, could possibly improve. But, the reviews keep coming. How one person could think they know exactly about the origin of each and every word when they aren't the creator of the words, is so surreal, so spiritual. Reading the words. Hoping for more. It's what it's all about. I love reading about what the words mean and how I should be effected by each song.
...can it get any better?
But, then... I read another review... of the same song... I read a review of... before... by the same person. And I just get it again.

Are y'all listening to the Redux (BOB mix) or the original / original remastered?
I listened to the BOB mix a few weeks ago, and I like it better than the original. I think songs like Why Go, Porch, Once, and Garden really shine. Jeremy sounds better too, but all the extra "spoken" vocals at the end kinda ruin it.
