Why Go is a different beast from the previous three...more direct, more punk in a way. Jeff basslines are insanely good, but the whole band is kinda on a take no prisioners attitude i just love it.
Dude, that solo is wonderful and i love the guitar tone on this version.

Black is one of those that no matter whats going on with your life, once you listen to it, it transport you for a moment. I remember Ed on a interview saying there were songs that once you sang them you couldnt fake the sentiment and this is one of them.
I really like the piano here and both guitars of course, they almost had this Crazy Horse element to them thats very interesting.

I love what Stone is doing during the chorus on Jeremy. The whole song is wonderful and might be one of Ed´s definitive performances ever. But again, those guitars are so good, so well used, the reverb and tone are exactly what this one needs.

yeah, Oceans is another of those very close and personal favorites. Its kinda refreshing where its placed on the album, its almost as it was the ballad but there is no ballads here.
Jeff sound is huge, i love it. Krusen takes the spot too at the end. Dude really did an amazing performance on the album.

Man, i remember as a kid i was not into Porch at all. Too desperate. That changed with the Unplugged of course and the live version i saw, Pinkpop 92, that stuff. The studio version is fierce but once you saw this one live, it can pale against the live setting, kinda like RMV in Vs.

Both Garden and Deep were not my favs as a kid, and they remain as the lesser songs on this album. I appreciate them more now, specially Garden with its very cool guitar interaction.
My favorite part on Deep is that insane end, very Crazy Horse, very wild but overall they could have include another song from this era, maybe Alone, and it would be ok with me.

Duuuuude
Release still gives you the same exact emotional punch as it did what, 35 years ago? The guitar intro is gorgeous but the build up is another perfect Pearl Jam moment.

Its a tour de force, the energy is so high. But as a kid i was kinda turned off with the production, and now i think its awesome. There is a darkness element to it, closer to Janes Addiction, Husker Du, The Replacements and its also classic rock, linked with MLB or Green River´s punk attitude.

Original mix no questions asked!
I think i only listened to the Brendan one when it was released, and because i got the super deluxe box set.
Like i said, at the time i was very happy with their choice of remix the album because it sounded dated and the reverb and whatever...and yes, the Brendan mix is closer to what they bring live but the original is really something else, they never replicate that sound and in Vs you kinda see that. Everything is clearer and sharp.

Nice play by play there. Part of the challenge for me with this and with Vs. really is that I have heard these albums at least hundreds of times. I have to consciously make the effort not to go into autopilot on pure muscle memory. That’s part of the reason I decided to add some b-sides and live tracks.
I recall that it was maybe Jeremy or Porch on the BO’B mix that sold me, being able to hear all the different things happening in the songs rather than what seemed like a cacophony in the original mix. But at this point, it’s been probably 15 years since I have heard the “purple” Ten because of it. I’ll go back to that in the next few days maybe. Give you some thoughts on reliving that original mix.

My first Ten copy was a cd, we got the Brazilian version mostly here and it had the original art cut so i only got the whole thing after a while when i saw the cd pressing on a record store.
Also the version i have got a very washed color, pretty awful. It also lists Release as Release- Master Slave, so called it like for ages.
