Is Red, Black, Yellow the one song on Lost Dogs that benefited from being redone? I admit I don’t think I’ve ever heard the Hail, Hail B-side. On LD, the guitars during the bridge are so subtly good. If you don’t listen closely you could easily miss the excellence. Should the Rodman track be taken out?

I wouldn’t pretend to argue that it’s the “worst” song, but Hold On is the song I enjoy the least on there.
The problem with "Hold On" is that the chorus is big bunch of nothing. The kind of thing where any good songwriter/producer would say "now that we have a placeholder, let's write an actual chorus". The way that little guitar line after the words "Hold On" resolves atonally is somehow astonishing to me. There is no satisfaction achieved, almost as if they are trolling.
"Brother" (with vocals) and "Just A Girl" are both far better songs IMO. A good example of "Why did they put that on there and not those?". And the actual finished version of "Just A Girl" is still unreleased, but we have two versions of "Hold On" now.

There’s actually a third version out there.

Hold On seems to be the one of the three they really wanted to make work. We know they worked on 2 different versions of it during Vs. And Ed kept throwing “hold on” into improvs (back when they would do them).
