The version of Hard to Imagine on Lost Dogs is from the Vs. sessions. I first heard it in the Hallucinogenic Recipes bootleg box set well before Vitalogy was released. The Chicago Cab version was rerecorded during the Vitalogy sessions. To me, the Lost Dogs version (vs session) is the definitive version because it was out there first.

Interesting! I've always been more partial to the Chicago Cab version but love both.

Digging around the band apparently gave the song another go during the No Code sessions.

Oh man, I would love to hear a version with Jack.

Can someone give me the really quick, dumb-dumb's version of how these songs differ?

Black Red Yellow (Hail, Hail vs. Lost Dogs)
Dirty Frank (Evenflow vs. Alive vs. Lost Dogs)
Let Me Sleep (Xmas Single vs. Lost Dogs)
Other Side (Save You vs. Lost Dogs)
Whale Song (MOM III vs. Lost Dogs)

I didn't realize those bottom 3 were different. BRY has a longe bridge jam

They're all listed in the "The definitive list of pearl jam songs/versions" thread. Maybe they aren't different.

"They're the same." is a perfectly acceptable answer.

They’re different.

Lost Dogs BRY has a longer bridge.

Lost Dogs Dirty Frank is missing (maybe) chainsaw sounds, or they’re added, but not in single version.

You seem to be arguing with yourself over the course of a single sentence.

The versions of Dirty Frank on the Alive and Even Flow singles is the same. The Lost Dogs version is a different mix. There are the abovementioned chainsaw sounds and different parts of the vocals removed.

Maybe they'll re-re-record some of the tracks

A reimagining in the studio spearheaded by Josh Klinghoffer, who is featured on every track.

Is this just speculation or is there something to suggest this is happening?

Just fun and healthy speculation

I also feel they will eventually release Benaroya Hall too

I still remember being so excited when this came out and loving it on first listen. Lost Dogs might be the last highest peak of Pearl Jam fandom.

you can almost consider this PJ's foray into a double album.

Or remove the singles and use only previously unreleased tracks, a pretty good album.
