Time for ultimate standings! I've taken the three ranking criteria I've been tracking so far, which are:

Total Wins - Combined number of wins for Round 1 and Round 2.
Win Percentage - Ordered first by win percentage, then total wins descending, then total losses ascending.
Weighted Wins - Gives 1/2 of a point for wins in Round 1, and 1 point for every round thereafter.

Then, I've averaged the standings for every album to come up with Ultimate Standings. I only did the Top 10 because this takes forever. Here we go!

Quote:
1. Yield
Total Wins: 1
Win Percentage: 1
Weighted Wins: 1
Songs Left (8): All Those Yesterdays, Brain of J, Do The Evolution, Faithfull, Given to Fly, MFC, No Way, PM/PM
Notes: As far as the standings so far go, Yield is looking very strong. No song from Yield has ever won the tournament before, though, so you've gotta wonder if it'll fall off the table in Rounds 3 and 4. Hasn't really conquered any other albums yet, just consistently solid.

Quote:
2. Vitalogy
Total Wins: 1
Win Percentage: 2
Weighted Wins: 1
Songs Left (8): Corduroy, Immortality, Last Exit, Not for You, Nothingman, STBC, Tremor Christ, Whipping
Notes: It's only one extra loss that keeps Vitalogy from being tied for first, so you can think of it as a virtual tie. Vitalogy has a lot of strong songs left--Tremor Christ, Immortality, and Last Exit destroyed their competition in Round 2. This album is going to go deep. It's done best against Lightning Bolt so far (4-0).

Quote:
3. No Code
Total Wins: 2
Win Percentage: 4
Weighted Wins: 2
Songs Left (8): Around The Bend, Hail Hail, In My Tree, Off He Goes, Present Tense, Smile, Sometimes. Who You Are
Notes: Even though it's behind Yield and Vitalogy in lots of standings, No Code has the same amount of songs left as those two powerhouses. However, it's most solid showings are against Avacado (3-0) and "Other" songs (4-1), so we'll see how well it does against the big boys coming up.

Quote:
4. Vs.
Total Wins: 4
Win Percentage: 3
Weighted Wins: 4
Songs Left (7): Daughter, Elderly Woman, Glorified G, Go, Indifference, Rats, RVM
Notes: Vs. is hanging tough despite 4 losses in Round 2 (but hey, that's the same number as Yield). Consistent against other albums across the board, but there hasn't been a '93/'94 match-up yet--I have a feeling that Vitalogy is going to win most of those if/when they do happen.

Quote:
4. Binaural
Total Wins: 3
Win Percentage: 5
Weighted Wins: 3
Songs Left (7): Breakerfall, Evacuation, Greivance, Insignificance, Nothing as it Seems, Rival, Sleight of Hand
Notes: If I had to pick a dark horse before the tournament started, it probably would've been Binaural. But some tough matches against Ten (of all albums!) have dropped it to fourth. We'll see how it goes...

Quote:
5. Ten
Total Wins: 5
Win Percentage: 6
Weighted Wins: 5
Songs Left (6) : Alive, Black, Deep, Even Flow, Porch, Release
Notes: Despite the fact that Ten has fallen in of a lot of people's "favorite albums" rankings, it's still going strong (especially with all of those recent wins over Binaural!). Glancing at the match-ups, I could certainly see a few of these getting to Round 4!

Quote:
6. B-Sides
Total Wins: 5
Win Percentage: 7
Weighted Wins: 8
Songs Left (2): Down, Wash
Notes:Despite the fact that there are only two B-sides left, this category showed some strength in the first round. It'll continue to fall in the standings, however, once I start calculating "Super-Weighted Wins" starting after Round 3 matches complete. Go Down!

Quote:
7. Riot Act
Total Wins: 6
Win Percentage: 8
Weighted Wins: 7
Songs Left (4): All Or None, Cropduster, I Am Mine, Save You
Notes: Another record that had dark-horse potential, Riot Act may continue to fall but could stick around if RM-favorites like Cropduster and All of None get favorable match-ups.

Quote:
8. Pearl Jam
Total Wins: 7
Win Percentage: 9
Weighted Wins: 9
Songs Left (2): Parachutes, WWS, Severed Hand
Notes: You might think that there'd be no chance for Avocado to reach Round 4....but Severed Hand and WWS face each other in Round 3! So no matter what, Avocado will live on.

Quote:
8. Other
Total Wins: 7
Win Percentage: 12
Weighted Wins: 6
Songs Left (6): Breath, Hard to Imagine, I Got Shit, Long Road, Man of the Hour, SOLAT
Notes: This other amorphous category would probably be higher if it weren't for so many of its songs going out early in Round 1 (like the stuff from the PJ20 soundtrack). But if a few of these can go deep, this could climb thanks to Super-Weighted wins.

Quote:
9. Lightning Bolt
Total Wins: 8
Win Percentage: 10
Weighted Wins: 10
Songs Left (2): Mind Your Manners, Swallowed Whole
Notes: I'm actually surprised that this is still hanging around; it's all about match-ups (I can't think of many songs that would lose to "Wasted Reprise"), although that win for MYM over Force of Nature is legit. Swallowed Whole basically faces a 1-seed this round, so hasta la vista!

Quote:
10. Lost Dogs
Total Wins: 9
Win Percentage: 11
Weighted Wins: 11
Songs Left (2): All Night, Sad
Notes: Lost Dogs started with 12 songs, so it's not like it was handicapped from the start. But these songs just couldn't stand up against stiff competition.

Rest of the ultimate standings, with brief notes:

11. Backspacer - Once "Got Some" leaves the competition, this will be the first real PJ album to go out (and I don't think anyone will be surprised).
11. Christmas Singles - "Strangest Tribe" is the only song left in this originally large category (started with 21 songs), but I'm afraid its days are numbered against "In My Tree" in the third round.
12. Demos/Leaks - There were 15 songs in this category, and they were all knocked out in Round 1.
12. Live Covers - "I've Got A Feeling" was this category's sole representative, and it was eliminated in Round 1.

Spoiler: show

Was that a Ten bonus track at one point? Then it should be classified under "Other"...I'll make the change for the next set of standings!

For the record, Evacuation did not make it to round 3, so Binaural only has 6 songs left.

I'll be holding off on some detailed stats until after Round 3 is over, but just some interesting tidbits after the round's first set of matches:

--Only two songs that had first-round byes (Given To Fly and Wash) went out in the last set.
--The worst showing was Swallowed Whole, going up against previous champ Immortality (SW only garnered 3.57% of the vote in that match).
--The next worst showing was Glorified G, which could only get 10.84% of its match's vote.
--Of all the songs that were eliminated in the last set, Rival had the most dominant stretch (in its three matches, including its loss, it earned 68.8% of possible votes). Only Red Mosquito (which went down in Round 2 but got 71.35% of votes available to it) has done better, among songs that have been eliminated.
--Vs. is 0-3 so far in Round 3, while the "Other" category is 3-0.

It's the first song that's been eliminated where I've said, "Woah, woah, too early!" (except for maybe RM), and I think the numbers back it up (not that No Way shouldn't have won or anything, just that it was a hotly-contested match).

More detailed stats when Round 3 ends completely, but for now, here are the first "Super-Weighted Wins" standings. Remember, for these, Round 1 wins get 1/2 of a point, Round 2 gets 1 point, and then every other round gets 1/2 point more (1.5, 2, 2.5, etc.). For now, these are sort of surprising:

Quote:
Vitalogy - 15
Yield - 15
Other - 15
No Code - 14.5
Binaural - 12.5
Ten - 10
Vs - 9
Pearl Jam - 7.5
Riot Act - 7
B-Sides - 6.5
Lost Dogs - 5.5
Lightning Bolt - 4.5
Christmas Singles - 4
Backspacer - 3.5
Demos/Leaks - 0

What's surprising, I guess, is how quickly "Other" has climbed, and also that Avocado ranks higher than Riot Act. I think this will undergo many changes between now and the end of Round 3, though.

Other stats:
--If the "Other" category wins its next match (it's doable: SoLaT vs StBC), it'll be the first category to go undefeated in any round (it would be 6-0).
--After this latest round of matches, B-Sides, Lost Dogs, Lightning Bolt, X-Mas Singles, and Backspacer are all down to their last songs **sweat sweat**
--Right now, the best-performing song (that is, the song that's gotten the most votes available to it in all of its matches) to get eliminated is Nothingman (it was able to get 76.37% of its votes, including its loss).

Are you crediting an album with a win when the matchup is made of two songs from the same album?

Yeah, in those matchups the album gets a win and a loss. Not ideal, but it's the nature of the beast.

Although this is obviously stupendous work on your part... I find the "Other", "B-Sides", "Lost Dogs" & "Christmas Singles" differentiation a little confusing, or at least unnecessary. If I were doing it I would just have 2 categories for the non-album tracks: 1) Lost Dogs and 2) Other B-Sides & Rarities. Lost Dogs would specifically just be the 30 songs on that album (treated as its own stand-alone album) and everything excluded from LD (Merkinball, Singles, Leatherman, MOTH, etc.) would make up the bulk of the Other B-Sides category. Demos/Leaks wouldn't even register in the final stats. So there would only be 12 categories. The 10 studio albums + Lost Dogs + Other B-Sides & Rarities. It's kind of hard for me to conceive what it means that "Other" is doing almost as well as Yield and Vitalogy? But still, really... excellent work! Go TEAM BINAURAL!

Sure, but that's much clearer to me when the B-Sides and Christmas Singles are not pulled out as separate categories from Lost Dogs. I'm used to thinking of the non-album tracks as either being Lost Dogs or the Others (Merkinball, Singles, MOTH, Leatherman, etc.)
