After listening again all I can hope is it is a smart marketing ploy. Look for "lightning Bolt " (special edition) Extended "Mind Your Manners" Intro, The sound of a guitar hitting a guitar tech during "Sirens" solo. Extended endings to Infallible, Lightning Bolt, Let The Records Play.

i might give severed hand a 5. i really fuckin love that song, its like the 'pendulum' of s/t, i could jerk off to it. the other songs i would give a 3 on the strength them in a live setting.
Better have a fast hand because that song peaks at the 50 second mark. Seriously, it would be a slog after that.

When I hear Severed Hand at the right time, I wouldn't argue with that.

LB - 2 (initially really, really liked the song)
Okay, I'll bite. What turned it from a 4 into a 2?
Simple, anytime new Pearl Jam hits I get way too excited and overate everything.
I think I have the opposite reaction with most bands that I obsess over. At first, I'm always like, "What the hell is this crap?" Then I listen to it more and start to pick up on stuff. Case in point: I really thought Sirens was junk at first. The structure seemed all weird and I couldn't get into it. Then I started noticing elements that combined to have a serious impact on me, and now whenever I hear the song, I'm all in. Another case like that was the album "In Rainbows" from Radiohead. Didn't really dig it all the way at first. Now it's my favorite album from them.

The bass sounds really good in Getaway. Very groovy. The rest of the track is... I dunno, pretty boring, kind of sluggish for an uptempo opener. Actually, the whole verse is good, but as soon as he goes into the whole "IT'S ALRIGHT!" part it loses steam. The chorus proper is just dead on arrival. So many other directions they could've taken this.

Whatever. Song's over.
"Mind Your Manners". I remember thinking, about the intro, "well, at least it's something new." I had no idea it would give way to the standard PJ punk song. This song is so tame.
The part I really actually like is the chorus-- "self realized" and all that-- I think it has some cool elements, especially the counterpuntal guitar, and the vocal harmony, it really does remind me of Hüsker Dú.
