I really hate that I am Mine has 37 million listens on Spotify, but Cropduster only has 2 million. The general PJ audience really sucks.
Somebody sell me on Cropduster. I generally like most anything PJ puts out, at least on some level, but Cropduster is definitely on the meh end of things for me. I think the weird timing is cool and I like the lyrics, but I dunno - kinda a bland one, no?

The slightest extended break between chords during "everyone is practicing," the way it hangs open for juuuust a hair long than it should, is much more exciting to me these days
'i am mine' is just a better song than 'cropduster'. songs with unusual time signatures aren't always cool, this is a great example. i like the chorus more than the rest of the song, but 'i am mine' is way better.

I am Mine is bottom 3 on Riot Act.
it's probably in my top 5, but i don't think this is a great album. it's probably just above LB/Backspacer

"Cropduster" is several notches above "I Am Mine" for me, and it's not just because it's in 7, but because it's a thoughtfully composed song with a lot of cool touches and a compelling hook while "I Am Mine" is some corny bullshit
Look, I don't actually understand time signatures at all and Cropduster is better. But both are great!
And there's nothing about I Am Mine that I find corny.
i guess if you think the anthemic nature of the music is overdone or the lyrics are too cheesy you could find it corny, but i absolutely love the song, from the opening riff to the soaring outro. it's exactly what it's trying to be, a self-affirming yell, even if you are just yelling at yourself to convince yourself to overcome something. maybe people find overcoming self-doubt corny?
