one of the reasons I hold lightning bolt (and backspacer) in the esteem I do. While there aren't many truly top shelf songs on either of those albums, they are also albums where for the most part there's nothing I really need to cut. Even the weaker songs (excepting supersonic) are, at worse, fine.

Mankind, Lukin and Around The Bend are better than many songs on those albums.

I even enjoy I’m Open, but All Night would have been better, with I’m Open as a second b-side on a single.

This is very good, but I don’t think it’s right adding Man Of The Hour. Love Boat Captain is a must for Riot Act. The heart of the album.

One of these days I'll perfect my personal Binaural tracklist.

There are almost zero songs from LB or Backspacer that I like more than anything from the albums the preceded them.

What a fascinating way to think about this. This is like saying you like a baseball team because all the hitters between .215 and .235

Same. I'd maybe go 4-5 songs from both records that are in the top half of the catalogue for me.

4-5 songs each?!? Lol. I think I have one total song from the two albums combined in my top half of PJ songs. One. That’s not an exaggeration.

I might’ve misinterpreted what you were saying. Looking again, I think you meant 4-5 songs total, not each. Still, that’s way too many! :haha:

4-5 total was what I meant, and it's probably more like three.

To be fair, many albums improve when you just cut the three weakest songs and replace a fourth.

It's the degree of difference that is of note to me. It's not just that it improves it's that it becomes my favorite album.

Did MOTH come out after Riot Act or before? If after I agree.

If I was going to do this, I would go:

Breakerfall
Sad
Education
In The Moonlight
Light Years
Nothing As It Seems
Thin Air
Insignificance
Of The Girl
Rival
Sleight of Hand

That is a better record but it also feels like a different record. What I did with No Code doesn't change the album as much as our lists change Binaural.
