Working lyrics

when the kingdom comes he puts the records on and with his blistered thumb hits play
and with the volume up he goes and fills his cup and lets the drummer drum take away
the pain
the pain

breaking
foresaken
what’s that you’re taken
???? (believing) the feeling
he lets the records play

??? future dim
The cigarette light’s in
the vaporizer green light grim
and when the shot glass talks he goes to listens up
until he’s nice and numb again
again

shaken
the breaking
not one for faking
the reeling (???) is healing
he lets the records play
there’s wisdom in his ways

I’ve been down and I fell so hard and far from grace
I’ve been hurt and I still recall the flaws on her face
I’ve been off but ???? my feet
my feet again

shaken
foresaken
what’s that you’re taking
the weeding
the feeling
he lets the records play

shaken
but breaking
not one for faking
the reeling is healing
he lets the records play
there’s wisdom in his ways

I listen to a moment like :36-:52 of this song and think, "This is just the way this band is going to be from now on, isn't it?" Its a sobering thought.

One doesn't come back from that either. Once you go to... wherever that is... you stay there. Its the final destination of so many great bands before them.

I bet there are still people thinking the Rolling Stones will come back from that place too, but its too comfortable, too safe. The weather is too perfect. "We've earned this, damnit," they whisper to themselves as they lie next to their swimming pools. They like to think they have a choice, that they could return to the world if they wanted, but deep down they know they can never leave. It won't let them.

it's easy to think that your favorite rock musicians are like infinite wells of great, badass music but seriously, there's not many of them that can sustain the long run while still being really really interresting. Tom Waits, Neil Young, Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Joe Strummer come to mind. i think PJ lasted much longer than anybody would have thought in the early 90s and managed to make some of their best stuff when the hype had long passed so let's just see how it turns out for them - they're still good (less often than before, admittedly).

I actually really like this song but it would be great as angrier blues stomp song. The solos at the end fit that tone.

yeah it would be better. Maybe I dont care because I was writing this off as the random fun song and was then pleasantly surprised to find I actually found it fun.

Stip, why would you not capitalize the song name?

It doesn't feel right correcting a senior mod...

I like this very much, sounds original and refreshing somewhat.

p.s. People really really need to realize these guys aren't 25 years old anymore, god damn.
In other words, theres not much to get angry about when your a 50 year old millionaire with kids.
