It is just that the little intro gives so much hope and then the Shania Twain riff just crashes and burns the whole thing. If you are going to do one garage rock song at least hold it up against the bands who are doing it well and say maybe this needs to be better or maybe it doesn't need to be here. By the way other old millionaires pull off angry just fine.

GTFO with negative talk about this one. It's fun as hell! Definitely my favourite along with Getaway so far. It's different to what PJ have done before and better for it.
Catchy, fun, good vocal delivery and memorable riff throughout. Nothing wrong with this one.
so people are upset that this upbeat little swamp blues stomper is what, exactly? not serious enough?
I'm upset it stops being a swamp blues stomper when that chorus kicks in. The song loses all the swagger, balls and my interest when it starts. I'm not saying it had to be dark and I get why the chorus is all up and happy but I think it could have been done in a more interesting way . Maybe if the vocal melody was different or something.
That said even the verse parts/ bluesy parts sound like them trying a style that isn't really them, maybe I wouldn't mind/notice it if I liked the song more. Red mosquito is all bluesy and works fine.

Maybe it'll grow on me.
I agree, the chorus is too mtv friendly, poppy instead of bluesey, but man that bridge and Mike's work! I like
Different strokes etc. I just wish there was more of the drunken reveler in it. This doesn't sound like the drunk dancing to himself in the corner of the bar. To me anyway. I like the slide up at the end though.
Edit so i don't clog up the thread with my inanities, I'll also add that because i don't like the chorus the fact that its repeated twice at the end really does me in, they did the same thing with MYM. The compressed quality on eds voice needs to stay here, specially for the verse, but it won't. And i really like the outro, with ed faintly yelling shit over that guitar.

Bruce Springsteen and Steve Van Zandt are the first to admit that they love a good 3 minute catchy pop tune. I'm not saying that LTRP is that exactly, but it has great catchy moments that cheer me up. If Bruce and Steve have no problem with it then I'm fine with it too
A band doesn't have to be one sound. I like that what I'm hearing so far is different in general, and different to Backspacer.
