I've always thought that Spin the Black Circle would be really fun to hear as an upbeat sounding track with a big brass band and a singer with a really inviting, friendly tone. Not like, done in a tongue in cheek way....but totally serious.
Get a sort of "in the room" sound to it like that Beirut EP....
Only instead, it's....
doot-doot doot doot dooooot
Spin! Spin!
doot-doot doot doot doooot
Spin the black circle!
Got Some would probably work that way, too. I'm wondering...I haven't heard it in months, but the title track off Lightning Bolt strikes me as a maybe for inclusion, too.
Goddamn, now I'm gonna be stuck listening to Beirut all day.

RVM would be interesting arranged with a brass section, Can't Keep also.

In theory, none of the actual instruments they've used on recent albums are a problem. The problem is that none of them, least of all BoB, has any idea how to make a tasteful arrangement of said instruments. If they added brass you'd end up with something horrible.

It is good, yes. Slightly uninspired in one or two spots, but that's nothing new, and I'd imagine it's partly BoB telling him to tone it down for recording. Regardless, I totally forgot to do my drum review. Actually I didn't really forget as much as couldn't be bothered. Writing my novel seemed a bit more urgent.
