Infallible is underwhelming first time through. That's probably a good thing.

Ironically, having heard the core song with minor to no additional accompaniment, it becomes clear that most of what makes Future Days sound listenable here comes down to Brendan's production.

It's a minor point, but why fade out the piano on Future Days to end the record? It could have very elegantly been played to a definitive end.
O'BRIEN'D
That's my favourite fadeout on the album.
Let's rank the fadeouts!
I just think it lends the thing a nice finality, and to be honest I don't want any more bars of that piano like at Wrigley, and neither do I want one of BoB's "happy endings".*

Liking the production a lot better than Backspacer - Guitars haven't sounded this good since Riot Act. Lots of percussion going on as well and little riffs and fills everywhere. Lots to warrant replaying.

I want to get to know this album. The remaining tracks have pleased me.

I agree, and it makes me feel somewhat dirty.
