That's nice, that you still listen to this the most.
I understand what you're saying about the songwriting above, but more than any other album, the energy of their playing on this one takes a front seat to the songwriting. Something like Rats isn't a great song by any stretch, but the energy of that breakdown at the end guarantees that I'll never skip it.
In fact, this is the only album where I can honestly say I still don't skip any songs.

Vs. has so many great songs. Rearviewmirror is probably a top 2 or 3 for me. The ending of that song is the best thing Pearl Jam have ever done imo. Yet, there are lesser songs too which are not as good as some of the lesser songs on Ten (Garden, Oceans, Deep, Why Go are better than Glorified G, Rats, W.M.A., Blood, Leash). Hence, it ranks below Ten for me but definitely a top 3 album.

To make it clear, I feel the ending of RVM is the best thing they've ever done as far as a song part is concerned, followed closely by the ending of Black. Overall, Black is their best song. Corduroy and RVM fight for the number 2 song slot and I'm not sure I could ever pick one.

listening to Vs and two random thoughts:
Eddie’s performance on GG is sharper than I remember.
It is weird that in many ways Dissident feels like the template for generic Pearl Jam even though there are barely any Pearl Jam songs that sound like it

it could be because it is basically the template that copycats... copied?

yeah, i agree with this. Might be the first of many songs were the bridge sounds like a classic PJ bridge too.

Glorified G has a bad rep on RM for absolutely no reason. It’s fucking awesome. Same with Leash and Dissident.
GG has a bad rep here? Bonkers.
Leash is a beast. One of my white whales live along with Oceans.
I’ve only seen PJ five or six(?) times and I’ve gotten both of those. I’ve always loved Leash. I get that it has juvenile lyrics but I couldn’t possibly care less. It’s so musically fierce. And Ed is so damn powerful. I love it.
