has he heard Brendan O'Brien recently?

What were the most recent albums he produced?
Seether?
The Offspring?

Can't imagine either of those being very inspiring, personally.

That Uproxx review is pretty cool, and i actually like this moment:

¨Dark Matter isn’t a complete return to form. The reliance on outside writers is kind of alarming — along with Watt’s significant contributions, touring member Josh Klinghoffer also played a major hand in composing the charmingly bouncy parenthood ode “Something Special.” It’s not checked-out or craven like a late-period Aerosmith album, of course, but the extra help does underline how challenging it’s been for Pearl Jam to make Pearl Jam records in the past 15 years¨

Its very interesting because after LB the band was really close i think to not have another album. Im sure there is a story to tell, with all the aborted O Brian sessions and the overall discovery of Gigaton, but i can see DM as a new way to actually function as a unit. Well see how much of this happens in the future or not.

Interesting. I hope one of them eventually writes a book about this period.

That would be great, but they dont even want to address the drummer situation so i doubt we ever get any clarity there. Maybe we eventually get a "Lost Dogs 2" with a handful of songs from that 2017-2018 timeframe.

Lost Dogs 2 is starting to get a lot of ground to cover:

- Essentially the other half of self-titled (Of the Earth, Cold Confession, Let It Ride, Rearranged Furniture, Rearranged Priorities, Only Cloud in the Sky, etc.)

- Backspacer EP

- Lost BOB album (Forthcoming)

- Dark Matter b-sides

Can't Deny Me was first advertised as the lead single from a forthcoming album, which they (apparently) scrapped before (apparently) leaving BO'B

Ahhh, I thought "forthcoming" meant there was some talk about that being released soon as a b-side collection or something

:D

The band, upon hearing 'Can't Deny Me' over the studio monitors for initial playback:
"Brendan, this is no longer a fruitful partnership."

I saw BOB played keys on Quick Escape. Did that song originate from those sessions? I think Retrograde did

Yes...I believe those are the two supposedly from an earlier session, but, I'm far too lazy to source that. Just take my word for it until someone with more initiative fills in the blanks.

That's my understanding too.

This Xmas: Lost Dogs 1 reissue on vinyl
2025: Lost Dogs 2
2026: Lost Dogs 3
2027: PJ Andrew Watt album #2
