My buddies and I used to sing Pearl Jam songs into a tape recorder, listen back, and compare. Suffice it to say, when I sing, dogs scurry.

I went on a weekend camping trip with a bunch of strangers I met in the Pit. Twas a disaster. The guy who organized it was piss drunk by the time anyone got there. Then it poured non-stop for 2 days, everything was covered in mud and most people sat in their car listening to PJ alone...

Which would have embarrassed you more, your mom walking in on you during your Porch dance or your mom walking in on you masturbating?
I assume one always led into the other.

Yes, I DID get the stickman tattoo on NYE, going into 1995. I followed a local Dallas band, JiBe, who were friends with the Abbruzzese family. In fact, Dave A's brother, Frank, documented the band. When a friend of mine in the band found out about the tattoo, he grinned, walked me over to Frank, and had me show it to him. They both had a great laugh at me for doing EXACTLY what his brother had done. This was very shortly after the firing, so the wound was fresh.
He also gave me a his only copy of PJ at Trees on VHS, to make a copy and give back. I accidentally fucked up his tape, and forever lost the final two songs of that performance. Somehow, I salvaged most of the show, although it was kinda messed up, copied it onto a new VHS, and passed it back to him, as if it was the original.
Needless to say, he was then pretty pissed! I think the f'ed up version is out there, somewhere... Maybe on yt?
This stresses me out. Try to imagine being a teenage and feeling like you're *this* close to being friends with the band, then you completely botch it. I bet the self loathing was something else.

I think this might be the one to beat. Mine is pretty funny, but it's just the anthropomorphic version of having a bunch of Kerrang posters on your wall. But NumbersUp is so oddly specific...

I was never close to being friends with anyone in PJ, nor would I have asked Frank to meet his brother. It just so happened that he filmed a lot of JiBe shows in Dallas, and I was friends with them. He is also the one who would film some PJ shows on the road, while backstage, thanks to Dave. Here's a link to the the Trees show he recorded, that I fucked up. The part I couldn't salvage was the encore of Breath and I've Got A Feeling, during which Jeff handed the bass to Ed, who played while Kelly Curtis jumped onstage and performed a striptease, down to his underwear and a bra! Jeff was dancing onstage along with him. Sucks I messed up that footage

I sometimes wonder how my fandom would change if I had been in high school or younger when Ten came out. Would I have even liked them?
This is where I’m at regarding today. If I never heard of them, and dark matter came out along with all this other crap, would I like the song or the band? I would not.
