I wish this could go in the tour section. As I write this, the first two shows in Vancouver have happened. Some people are excited by how much of the set is comprised of DM songs and others contend it kills momentum. Binaural, Riot Act, Backspacer, and Lightning Bold are entirely unrepresented, and the fairly well-received Gigaton has only seen one song played. There have been b-sides and rarities as well as hits at each show. I have seen complaints (not on RM) when hits like Black and Daughter are only played at one show as well as complaints about song repeats in same-city shows. And then there are covers taking up space. Oh, and are they going to close with Setting Sun every fucking night now???
So wtf is the answer? They’ve played sets of 25 and 24 songs (Down crossed off night 2).
The challenge - write a 25 song setlist formula/recipe that will make the most people happy.
My attempt: 1-5 Alive, Even Flow, Black, Jeremy, and Ledbetter should be played at every show. If you only go to one, you want to see these. No casual fan goes home unhappy if they get these. 6 - Pick one - Daughter, Elderly Woman, Betterman. - A singalong for everyone. 7 - Pick one - Do the Ev, Why Go?, Porch 8 - Pick one - Corduroy or Rearviewmirror - we deserve one of these with no call and response 9-13 - Dark Matter songs. Yeah, 5 songs. 20% of the set. That’s fair. If the band is excited about their new music, they should play it. 14 - A cover. Just one. And full band. RITFW, Baba, Fuckin Up, Love Reign…These are fun. Ed strumming and singing Tom Petty is boring. Fuck off. It’s boring. 15-16 - 2 b-sides/Lost Dogs that aren’t YL. Something for the insufferable collector. Every show should have two rarities that are played once on tour. It’s your white whale lottery; They play Fatal and Footsteps in Missoula and Alone and Leatherman in Vancouver and Black, Red, Yellow and U in Chicago. (Never repeated on tour) 17-25 - 9 album songs but the 90s, 00s (Binaural, Riot Act, Avocado, BS) and 10s (LB, Gigaton) have to be represented twice. (Never repeated on tour)
Sample set in need of sequencing:
Alive, Even Flow, Black, Jeremy, Ledbetter Betterman Porch, Rearviewmirror, Scared of Fear, Wreckage, Upper Hand, Running, Waiting for Stevie, Baba, Sad, Hard to Imagine, Deep, Faithfull, Habit, Sleight of Hand, Get Right, Marker in the Sand, Whoever Said, Mind Your Manners, Take the Long Way

We're only 2 shows in at the time of this post, but it's unlikely they'll vary a lot from what we've seen in Vancouver. They have visuals for the DM ones, also some visuals for a few classics (DTE looked pretty badass).
I'd love for them to swap Ten for Gigaton or No Code songs.

Best one yet, though I'd sub out Baba (too many high notes) for either Fuckin' Up or Leaving Here.
12 albums in, something like 200 songs to choose from... Does Ten still need to have the most tracks played behind Dark Matter in 2024?
I get there's great songs there, but still. And the casual fan who only knows Ten songs, I don't think a lot of casual fans dropped $200 a pop to see them in 2024.
I'd love to have No Code, Riot Act, Binaural and Gigaton tracks replace Ten tracks, at least a few of them.
