I'm trying to recall...
I think RM is where I got Riot Act several months early (fall 2003?)... and the 5 or 6 song Avacado rough cut seemed well in advance of the album as well.

Like always at a new album cycle I go back and spend sometime with previous albums. So yesterday I revised my least favorite. Lightning Bolt . Least favorite doesn't mean I don't enjoy it I do. Listening yesterday I realized something about it. That is its not really a rock record. I started to hear much more as a pop record. The middle stretch Sirens,Lb and Infallible are just pure pop to my ears as is the final 4. Pendulum My Father's Son and Mym offer some sort of a line back to 94, but it isn't direct that's for sure. Dark Matter by all accounts isn't coming across as a pop record at all. Which I think bodes well . There will always be pop moments. Ed and Stone are both obviously influenced greatly by pop. My sense is this will be a bit of a mix of S/T and Riot Act in scope.

yeah I don't really mind "iffy" pop production if we're getting some Binaural / Riot Act influence; that could create some welcome (if not intentional) paradoxical push and pull in the sound, and do it more successfully than Lightning Bolt did
