The two-note “siren” guitar underneath the main riff at the beginning of the song is a near copycat of the same guitar “siren” on The Clash’s “Police On My Back”

I don't skip it when it comes on. Song is probably in the 30th to 40th percentile of PJ songs for me at this point, but still like it. Fit 2006 much better than it does today, and certainly doesn't hold a candle to Quick Escape, which basically covers similar subject matter.
I don't hate WWS, but it does introduce many of the characteristics found in their future misfirings (ex. frankenstein's monster of parts squished together, too many lyrics, and a puncheyness that lacks soul).

This was the first lead single for a new PJ album that I really didn’t like at all. I still find it grating and hash. Definitely one of my least favorite songs on Avocado.

Pretty generic guitar riffs, and an incredibly boring studio performance from everyone except Ed. Matt's drumming is particularly bland. Is it just a drum loop?!
I do quite like the melody and Ed's vocals though.

I've come into this thread three times to try and write my feeling on WWS and ended up deleting each and leaving. You said it perfectly. Thank you.
