The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
With the shift in set length being considered. What should a 21-23 song set looking like? This weird to say but I don't really need that much variation night to night. Also I am becoming more centimental in my old age, and maybe more excited to relive my youth. I like these sets. I’d like to see one deep cut / wild card per set. It’d probably be played poorly compared to the rest of the set, but it would be like finding that one card you don’t have in a pack of repeats. The set you posted plus MFC or Force of Nature or Fatal.
This is one of those items that is grating at me a little so far. All this talk of higher ticket prices, the fact that they haven’t toured since 2018 really…I would expect more from them.
I mean, they are not so old, and other legacy acts from their day and before are playing longer sets than this. And that the shows are still 2.5 hours means (1) the songs are being played longer (would be great), or (2) Eddie is really gabbing it up (not so great). If you are throwing down $150 as a starting price, 2 hours only seems like being cheated.
To be honest I think they are just building up their stamina. They have not really played together for a few years and only had a couple days of rehearsals, so I think they will soundcheck a lot of songs and by the Fall they will be back to more of what we are used to seeing. I am happy to leave the cover songs behind and see a tight 2.5-3 hour all Pearl Jam show.
I will be honestly disappointed if they start playing two encore, 3+ hour shows again.
Shortening the sets and cutting out all the sloppy covers seems like one of the unambiguously positive decisions the band has made in recent years, it feels like an acknowledgement the shows had become unfocused and it was time to reign things back in.
They haven't done much to impress me over the last few years, but this has done it.
I don't know what other bands/artists you guys are basing your comparisons on but 22-23 songs over 2+ hours is a still a really long concert by any measure, and I would wager significantly longer than most band's headlining sets.

I also like the shorter sets. They look better on paper too for some reason. I mean look at these two beauties. That shit came off the top of my fuckin head y'all
