Matt Chamberlain is arguably the band's best former drummer yet he never got to play on any studio recordings, so I'd love to hear what that would've sounded like.

matt is a tight, bottled up drummer (to these non-professional ears) compared to Jack's looseness. I think Dave A sat nicely between them, and had a more readily identifiable style (again, to these non-professional ears). I'm trying to think of songs from the No Code/Yield era where I would have liked to hear Matt's precision. I'm not sure if it would improve these songs but Hail Hail and Red Mosquito would certainly sound a bit different.

funny how no one has recommended someone else to play on Vs. or Vitalogy.... maybe because DAVE A IS THE FUCKING MAN AND YOU KNOW IT
Probably also because we have hundreds of live versions that show us what later drummers sound like playing those songs. The thought experiment works better in the other direction, imagining drummers on records that were released after their tenure in the band.

Assuming they stick with the formula from last night in MFC's absence, I'm excited to see Stuve on drums tonight in Oakland. He seems to play with an Irons-like energy.

Lol dave a is such an idiot. Dude has legit been posting for years wishing to play with pj again. Posts YouTube videos from his days all the time. Comments on every article.
Rollingstone posted an article on Cameron having Covid and fill in drummers. Someone commented "dave Abbruzzese is available !" And he responded (because of course he did) "no I'm not"
