I say we give Dave A's drum tech a shot at Lightning Bolt.

Would love it if Regan Hagar got to drum on a Pearl Jam album.

Stuverud would be nice - he works really well with Jeff.

He's good yes. I really like Hagar though, and he's got tons of history with the band, as well as working for Pearl Jam at the moment.

Matt Chamberlain is arguably the band's best former drummer yet he never got to play on any studio recordings, so I'd love to hear what that would've sounded like.

I think Light Years especially would greatly benefit from Jack's looser feel. Less stiff thudding and a little more swing to it.

That's a good call.

Jack should have drummed on Vitalogy. There you have it.

100 percent agreed

As much as I love Jack, Dave's best work is Vitalogy. Wouldn't change a thing.

matt is a tight, bottled up drummer (to these non-professional ears) compared to Jack's looseness. I think Dave A sat nicely between them, and had a more readily identifiable style (again, to these non-professional ears). I'm trying to think of songs from the No Code/Yield era where I would have liked to hear Matt's precision. I'm not sure if it would improve these songs but Hail Hail and Red Mosquito would certainly sound a bit different.

Probably also because we have hundreds of live versions that show us what later drummers sound like playing those songs. The thought experiment works better in the other direction, imagining drummers on records that were released after their tenure in the band.

Matt would've killed Vs. in 92/93. Nowadays I dunno.

Not Binaural though. I would take Jack Irons on that one. Matt Cameron belongs on Riot Act.

Dave A. would have made sense on the self-titled, Backspacer or Lightning Bolt. Gigaton is one I might give Jack a try on.

Assuming they stick with the formula from last night in MFC's absence, I'm excited to see Stuve on drums tonight in Oakland. He seems to play with an Irons-like energy.

Yeah! Stuverud is a great drummer! Keith Moon like energy.

In 94 he was Ament's pick. They went with Eddie's pick 'Jack Irons'. But Stuverud would have been an very interesting and fitting choice.

Lol dave a is such an idiot. Dude has legit been posting for years wishing to play with pj again. Posts YouTube videos from his days all the time. Comments on every article.

Rollingstone posted an article on Cameron having Covid and fill in drummers. Someone commented "dave Abbruzzese is available !" And he responded (because of course he did) "no I'm not"

Okay big guy. Whatever.

I'm sure he reads this board too
