PMPM is the best song to show people that pearl jam just aren't some dumb rock band. That there is so much more to this band.
But Thin Air is so beautiful. Subtle. And off my favorite album.
Hmm.
I agree with everything you said, and I still had to vote for Not For You. I remember being like 13-14, when that song was fresh and ferocious... so good.

I'm definitely taking NFY for granted right now
It’s kind of an easy one to do that with. I definitely haven’t voted heavily for it over the years, but it fucking sounds awesome on Vitalogy. I love Thin Air (and Binaural), but Vitalogy has so many great songs too.

Not For You on SNL was the performance that pushed me from serious fan to rabid fan. It should win this round and I'd be fine with it winning the whole tourney. But I am sticking with my Thin Air sympathy vote because that song just gets better every time I hear it.

What a surprise to find this somewhat close....
Push Me/Pull me and Thin Air are fine. Push Me/Pull Me has a really cool baseline, and some moments I like, but it also feels a little inorganic to me - a little bit of tryhard experimentation. I like the song, but it's never felt essential
Thin Air is a beautiful piece of music that i've come to enjoy over the years, but Stone's writing is very hit or miss and this falls firmly in the miss camp for me. there's also some slightly weird distortion on Eddie's voice I can't quite describe that takes me out of the song a bit (not the same that's on lowlight but a similar issue - like he was afraid to play a ballad straight). That bit when he starts to soar towards the end is great.
I think I would have voted for Thin Air over Push Me/Pull Me, but both are far, far below the volcanic Not For You, which contains a collection of scorching performances, one of their all time great riffs, and of course one of the most important lyrical moments in the catalog (and it's a middling song on Vitalogy! What a record!).
