That gif just legit broke my heart. :shake:

Not shouting at you but you have no idea how bad that guy was at his job and consistently bad over years, multiple nights on every tour he would fuck Up. There’s a long build up to him being fired and he not only deserved it, his behaviour afterwards confirmed he needed to be fired and deserved it.

Still no excuse to behave the way he did in this gif unless this guy was maliciously sabotaging them or something. Can you share a link or video or something backing this behavior up?

What would be better? A google article or my own first hand account? I’ve seen pj only 39 tines since 96 to 2015 and the guy has fucked up almost every time. I’ve pals seen em hundreds of times and all agree while it wasn’t classy the way it was done. It had to happen.
The last tour he was in he fucked up every single night. He was out of his mind every night.
You can’t work for a band like pj and be off your face every night while ‘working’

So you have him go out for waffles with Stone and tell him you're moving on with him.

Nobody here is saying "Ed was wrong for firing him". But the behavior in the gif is really hard to defend.

Exactly Chud and Jorge. If that is how he conducts himself with an employee at age 50, wow.

I was just looking for context. As others have pointed out, it's hard to excuse that sort of behavior, especially given a five second clip.

Also, I'm not doubting that this dude fucked up throughout the years you've watched them play. But you're looking from the outside in. I was interested to know if there was evidence from the band members themselves or their inner circle that would explain Ed's assholery.

People are reacting like Vedder punched the guy in the dick and pissed in his mouth. Ed tossed his guitar on the ground, it is Ed's guitar after all. If the tech sucked at his job he deserved to be fucked with, ever think it is REALLY annoying to be a band member at that level and have screw ups like that in front of thousands of paying customers? I'm going to go swing on my giant outdoor lightbulb now to relieve the stress this fucking forum gives me.

Throwing the guitar on the ground to purposely humiliate your employee instead of just handing it to him (when he's reaching out to grab it) is a dick move. If you think that's alright, sorry, you are a dick

This breakdown was fantastic. These nuances is precisely what Pearl Jam has been lacking in their more recent records.

Yeah, this was great.

I never noticed that momentary dissonance in the chorus, where the acoustic guitar plays Emin while everyone is on F and Stone’s great melodic part is in Amin.

Really enjoyed the highlighting of how great Dave Krusen’s drumming is on the song too, and the discussion of how so many songs on the early records had that signature rhymic emphasis.

(What happened to this band, etc.)

Not to mention mikes descending octave run he also throws in there on occasion (mostly live) from like C, B, A and other various runs he does.

That's exactly what stood out to me the most too. The drumming. Dave K and Dave A had something really special.

Somebody should send this video to PJ.

Jeff and Stone have both mentioned how back then they didnt really even know how to "write a song". This is why the songs were so interesting and reasonably unique. Its once they aged and started thinking too much. Simplifying it. Thats why it went down hill. Its not the drummer.

JA talks briefly about it in the movie. And stone Gossard is on PJ Radio talking about it as well.

They need to shed this idea of what a song is supposed to be and start over again.

Post subject:  Re: Pearl Jam Videos

I don’t know how much I buy that inexperience played a role in how good their early material was. Stone and Jeff had been writing for years and had already recorded two major label albums at that point (Mother Love Bone’s Apple and Temple of the Dog).

What it made me think of is Stone talking (maybe in SVT?) about how it was difficult adjustment to cede control of the songwriting as it’s his natural tendency to be more detail-oriented and ornate, whereas Ed has a much more direct, simple style.
