Oh and it bothers me that Even Flow is some weird remix. Apparently according to wikipedia it's the single version but regardless it's not the version everybody knows and it's kind of lame that they put one of their top 3 hits as an alternate version.
It's the version that was in the very heavily aired music video and during their commercial peak you were just as likely to hear this version on the radio as you were the album version. It's pretty that likely that the "alternate" version is the one most fans heard first during the period when they gained the most new fans.
The Dave A version is vastly superior to the Ten album version. It's not a remix, it's a different recording.

The single version is equally as important to people my age because it was the version that aired on MTV over and over and over again. It was also the version on the CD single which a lot of people bought to get "Dirty Frank". Calling it an "alternate version", is quite frankly incorrect. It's the "hit single version" and the version that the band prefers! And to people who didn't buy "Ten", but bought singles and watched MTV, it was the "correct" version.

I'd like to see a little more Binaural and RA represented. I'd probably add Insignificance or Grievance to disc one. Then drop Last Kiss and add LBC or something else from RA to disc two. Other than that, it does play surprisingly well for a greatest hits album.
yes drop their biggest hit and exchange it for a shitty ass ballad from a shitty ass album
Last Kiss was their biggest hit because it was able to be played on radio stations of all formats - that doesn't really ring true of the whopping majority of the rest of their catalog. and also, it kinda sucked imo.
I'd agree about LBC, but Riot Act wasn't a shitty album. it was weaker than earlier efforts but still fairly admirable.

It's kind of a weird tracklisting overall.
If I were to design a one-disc "greatest hits"-type compilation from the same era, it would look something like this:
1. Alive (promo single mix) 2. Even Flow (single mix) 3. Jeremy (single mix) 4. Black (O'Brien remix) 5. Yellow Ledbetter 6. Daughter 7. Go 8. Spin the Black Circle 9. Corduroy 10. Better Man 11. Who You Are 12. Hail, Hail 13. Given to Fly 14. Do the Evolution 15. Last Kiss 16. Nothing As It Seems 17. Grievance 18. I Am Mine

gotta admit, i always knew that the video version of Even Flow was slightly different, but didn't know it was Dave A. Also didn't ever know they had such a hard time recording it and feel like they never got it

From memory one of the ATS pods interviewed Krusen and he spoke about it. Was a great interview regardless.
