why are they hiding him behind a speaker stack?
well where would you hide him?
let me ask a different way: why are they hiding him?
i think jorge's right
I can only go by what I saw, but it seemed like Josh hid himself. He didn't seem like he wanted to take any attention away from the rest of the band. Obviously I have no idea what the dynamics of this are.

Pearl Jam, despite their various drummer shake-ups, have always felt like a relatively static, self-contained unit, so it seems weird to see them adding another member to play an instrument that three of them already play. But they definitely sounded good the other night, and I'm sure there are songs that have flourishes and things that they've never been able to replicate live, so if they're tasteful about how they use him, I could see it being a good thing. From what I saw the other night, it didn't seem like he really stepped on anyone's toes or altered the sound in any meaningful way. That said, it may only take a half a tour before they decide to bring him out of the shadows to showcase him on something random, kind of like they did with Boom when they first hired him (i.e. organ solos in "In My Tree" and "Red Mosquito")

Went back to watching 7:00 at Sea, Hear, Now after watching that RHCP video...... Pearl Jam is so cool. Bullshit when people say they haven't aged well.

I don't know what to make of this. I don't know much about RHCP. Does Frusciante sing too?
I'm sure the editing here is not favorable, but to think about how much people put on Ed for the warbling of years past. Maybe the RHCP rap rock style is just hard to pull off when you get older...
But yes, compared to this, PJ are aging super well. Agreed they sounded great the other night from the vids online (ed in particular). Looking forward to the next revisions of old tracks.
