The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
1. Force Of Nature 2. Just Breathe 3. The End 4. Long Way 5. Future Days 6. The Haves
Would put the Elton John song just above The Haves, and the EV songs from Flag Day in the Long Way to Future Days area. Think The Haves is the worst yet.
This song had potential. The melody has been stuck in my head all weekend, and the production is really nice. The opening line sounds like it could go in an interesting direction. Then it steers headlong into cheese and never recovers.

“Long Way” popped up on a Spotify random play, and in my mind I started singing along with “he took the wrong way / on the free way” and now I like the song a lot more bc that visual is hilarious

This might be a controversial opinion, but I don't see Eddie's recent material as a devolving of his skill.
I think he always sucked at writing songs and simply lucked out and had a fruitful period in the 90's, no doubt brought on by surroundings and inspiration.
In other words, it's the norm rather than the exception. The current Eddie isn't much different from Bad Radio Eddie. All the same boring and annoying tendencies were always there.
I don't think this is far wrong.
I don't buy this narrative, despite the same net result. I think Bad Radio Eddie wore his influences on his sleeve, as did Ten - Binaural Eddie (when his album contributions were often highlights); it's just that he had different influences in that "good" period.
Now he's a dad with a killer hi-fi system at home, and he's soaking up all the music of his youth again. Still wearing his influences on his sleeve; he's just come full circle.
This is the same man who once penned, “I like to read Bukowski buck-naked”
likes rhythmic things that butt up against each other

This is up for preorder at Target. Don’t pay 10c shipping.
As well as Amazon. Same price. ($40)
At Target, it qualifies for the 3-for-2 promo that I mentioned in the Flag Day thread...if you're willing to chance they ship your other items before its yet-to-be-announced release.

Ah nice thanks for the heads up with Amazon. Will prob preorder through them in the off chance I move before release date. I can only imagine how bad 10c would screw up a shipping address if you moved before it mailed.
i still can't get passed eddie vedder, in 2021, releasing a song called "the haves". please have some sort of self awareness.
this song isn't as bad as i thought it would be. i think i like it more than the fake Tom Petty song. in fact the outro is cool. its solo EV, its almost exactly what i expected from him at this point. i'm glad pearl jam inspires him to write better songs than this.
