Self-realized in two thousand and three May not be another hit may not matter as much to me right around the corner could be bigger than we think Will they give us what we want or will they....something else? They obviously didn't rehearse it will enough to get Brendan O'Brien's sound levels right
That's called sound-checking not rehearsing.

I don't think PJ do many good things live anymore, you do. You don't think there are vast differences between studio and live. I do. Personally, on that at least, I just don't think you're listening that carefully. (And no, I don't think RVM sounds awesome live... I think it loses nearly all of what made it great when played live.)
Last time I saw RVM live was 2000 so we may be using different samples here . I don't listen to many bootlegs and when I mean live I mean 'live' not 'live on a CD'. I listen carefully to my music enough to know that these songs aren't going to somehow become better when we have a studio version of them. This isn't Fixer through a warehouse wall or Va Va Voom soundcheck via an iPhone recorder - I can make out the entire arrangement of the song through headphones. Yes we will prefer cleaner studio versions of these songs to grainy videos but, for the last time, they won't be better songs.

And my comment was called 'tongue-in-cheek', the overall point being that they hadn't put in all of the preparation that might've been useful. How do we know how much they rehearsed? Do you? Do you know how much they fucked up in spite of how much they rehearsed? Nope, because you can't compare their performance against a studio version.

I explained quite carefully the elements which could indeed improve the song for me. I'm not demanding that you agree with me, but to make out that I've provided no basis for what I'm saying just makes me want to not talk to you, frankly. I mean you know better than me, clearly. My 22 years of PJ listening experience means shit.

I admit it. I love Boom's organ.

It's so big. And how he manipulates it with just his hands, and sometimes his feet, it's just beautiful to watch.
you mean how he crudely bashes it with his giant sausagelike fingers?
Go on.
I would pull out all that man's stops, I'm telling you.

For example, they never play that lead / arpeggio part in RVM anymore, they just thrash around on the chords. And that lead part absolutely makes the song, but it's unique to the studio version.

Some of you people are nuts. I've been a fan since '93 and love their new stuff.. The middle albums (No Code through Riot Act) will always have a special place in my heart, but they lack the energy of the early and late albums. Backspacer kicks my ass, as Mind Your Manners is now.. Still haven't heard Cold Concession, but hoping someone can hook me up. I went through the first 20 or so pages and nothing.

You probably won't like it if you don't like their good stuff.
