this one is ok, i guess, but there's nothing new or interesting going on here at all. and that piano part that bookends it makes me nauseous. 50/50 shot that BoB includes french horns on this on the album..
eddy needs to just make a solo album of these types of songs, and stop wasting slots on pearl jam records with them.
Is he saying 'Our future days, Days of you and me' Cause thats what im hearing.
And that 'Back when i was still broken' line ....is not a good line to come back into the song on.
The chord change during 'our future days' is the best part of the song. All 1.5 seconds of it.
It sounds like mike is doing something interesting with some distorted guitar round 1.14 ish, but i dont hear it again so i might be hearing things.
Is the piano throughout or just at the beginning and end?
Still bleh.
If the piano is at the beginning and the end but not in the middle, that'll be pointless and sound awful.
The lyrics seem to be 'Our future days, days of you and me'. Ugh.
If this is the song we heard a few seconds of in that video, then hopefully same brushes from Matt and some slide guitar from Mike will improve the full band version (both things I heard in the video).
Overall this is a pretty little love song, but nothing more than that. I've never been one of the naysayers for this type of song, but this one doesn't contain any of the darkness present in Speed of Sound, The End, Thumbing My Way or Man Of the Hour. All of those songs had a depressing element. Just Breathe didn't but only because Brendan fixed it.

I like the skeleton of this song, but that piano gives it a bad adult contemporary feel, and the lyrics are trite and corny. "Just Breathe" at least had a sort of fluttering lightness to match its subject matter; this feels like a heavy-handed power ballad dying to break loose.

Why doesn't he leave all these songs off for solo jaunts, goddamn it?
His little "I need to quit smoking" Just Breathe/End ruminations may have fit alright into Backspacer, but I'd bet fake money that they would have sounded a lot more vital and a lot less over produced on an Ed solo work.
Ah, OK. Sounds enough like him that I thought it was him.

I bet eddie had half this song recorded somewhere gathering dust and Brenden found it and decided to make it ~*beautiful*~ and ed said 'sure whatever' cause he's gone insane/deaf/stupid/all of the above.
Edit: forgot /doesn't give much of a fuck

i listened to this a few times and decided that it might be good with some nice studio work (like KD, the skeleton is okay) but this can end up underwhelming if there isn't more to it (and the right kind of more)

I don't have high hopes for this one to improve in the studio. There's too much room for Brendan to add cheese like he did to similar songs on Backspacer.

If i ever were to lose you I'd surely lose myself everything i have dear ive not found by myself
try and sometimes you'll succeed to make this man of me All my stolen missing parts ive no need for anymore
i believe and i believe cause i can see our future days days of you and me
back when i was feeling broken i focused on a prayer you came deep (?) ocean something i (?) All the complexities and games no one wins but somehow they're still played all the missing crooked hearts we may die but they still live on
i believe and i believe cause i can see our future days days of you and me
the hurricanes and cyclones rage the winds (?) into dust the floods they came and the tides they raised ever closer became us??
All the promises at sundown i met them like the rest demons dancing used to come round before now they've left
so persistent in my ways angel i am here to stay so persistent (??) please this is just to good to be gone
i believe and i believe cause i can see our future days days of you and me you and me.
There is a snowballs chance in the deepest bowls of hell that this is gonna turn into something id want to listen to.
I'm gonna go clear the sparkling unicorn vomit out my ears. The saddest part about me spending time transcribing these lyrics is that it didn't kill nearly enough time as i was hoping it would.
