I know McCready is on record professing admiration for Maiden, Randy Rhodes, Metallica, even Pantera. Jeff Ament likes Slayer, Venom, Celtic Frost, Mastodon and many others. Stone is a Motörhead fanatic (arguable whether metal or not). But I haven’t heard much about if Ed likes any of it. Maybe Sabbath.

Anyone know?

Let's not forget his love affair with Zeke (speed-punk), and he shared his admiration for Shellac in an old interview. Neither are metal, but both are pretty heavy, so I'm inclined to think he can probably get down with metal from time to time, even if he isn't a full-on metalhead.

I saw Zeke a few times in the early aughts. What a fun, gross band they were. Drummer would be pounding a beer with one hand, flipping the bird with the other, and just keeping time with his kick/hat. They all looked like full-on heroin addicts.
