The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
I guess if 'Betterman' was being put on Vitalogy now we'd all be really pissed off. That's what I'm telling myself. This band is no stranger to the pop song that doesn't fit the rest. The only wonderful thing that connects Betterman to the rest of the album is that freaky fade-in intro.

I was under the impression Betterman was only included with the iTunes version of the album.
If so, why are everyone's knickers in a twist?
Huh?

Because he mistakenly put an "o" instead of an "aw" in Bawlt.
Yeah that's pretty funny.

So 1 of the tracks was definitely recorded for and is a leftover from the Backspacer sessions. I guess that was going to be a part of that lost EP. Ti's kind of sad that you wait 4 years for an album and 2/12 tracks are at least 4 years old. I can understand if they didn't fit onto Backspacer (thematically, tonally, or too over bearing) but the time between releases is disappointing. Ah well.
TBH I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of bands reused material from older albums that never made it - they just don't publicise it.
Springsteen is notorious for it.
So is Neil. Hell, neil even uses old recordings of songs to put on new releases.
Yeah I started writing as much. Those guys tend to not have 4 years between releases though. Springsteen has 6 albums since 2000, Neil has at a guess 9 studio albums since 2000. Wow PJ have 5 since 2000. Not as bad as I thought. But the above are one writer, not 5.

Maybe you missed it. A live version of betterman is to be included with the iTunes version of the record.
What are you smoking? Can I have some?

I think that last sentence highlights the problem. It's often hard to have a continuous creative flow when there are various conflicting sources forcing each other to compromise their vision.
