before a lot of you were even born, there was a time after yield that lowlight was never played. in fact, if i recall, it wasn't played live until the riot act tour (outside of a bridge school benefit). everyone wanted low light. and then they played it. and played it. and played it. and like every song that like that, people got sick of it. the full-circled life of a pearl jam fan.
Low Light is in 3/4 (the second most common time signature used aka "waltz"). Then, at the end of each measure on the verse, it's in 4/4.
It just sounds weird because the change makes it sound like there's an extra beat coming from nowhere. However, there is nothing weird or uncommon about the time signatures in the song.

Even though the time signatures are common, you could say that alternating between 3/4 and 4/4 like that is pretty uncommon. Certainly is for Pearl Jam. I love how it is used in "Low Light," it is a momentarily disorienting effect that perfectly complements the song's breeziness.
